Good morning to all! I am considering having my windows replace in my home by Window World - the "home of the original $189 window". Just wondering if anyone has used them and has positive/negative comments on installation, the performance of the window, etc. Thanks!!

Thank you for the website; I looked through it. Lots of not-very-happy-with-WW people! ;) It does look like satisfaction may vary by individual operation (which makes perfect sense since they are all run independently). So, although I realize I'm looking for a needle in a haystack, I'll limit the geographic area and ask if anyone have experience with WW in the Southeast Missouri area? :)

If anyone is willing to put a window in your house for 189 including labor I would not expect much.
I would expect to pay 189 average for very low line windows without install.
I would look at winodows first and would suggest buying at least a midline model likley in the 250-300+ range each then install price on top. You may need to have the outside wraped when the new ones are installed and that is an extra expense.
You can also look at Lowes and Home Depot BUT DO NOT buy the off the shelf windows order the name brands like Jeldwen (both carry) or Pella (lowes). you can then pay someone to install or have lowes or HD install to get an idea of pricing.
P.S. you can buy the best window if it is not installed right it will be worse then the cheapeast window.... ask around and find a good contractor

I agree with Anthony1971, we have Jeldwen doors and windows and they are GREAT!! We got ours at Home Depot.

While I am not in the SE Missouri area, I will let you know that we used WW and were very happy with them. In fact many of our neighbors had their windows installed before we did so we waited to see how they liked them before we made our decision. The windows are fantastic. The noise on the outside of the home is minimal and the temperature regulation is great. We had great installers who checked on us several times to make sure we were satisfied. I can't say enough good things about them. Of course for every good response there is a negative response, so I would check on WW in your area see what type of responses you are getting there regarding the installers.

I appreciate everyone's candid replies; that is what I was looking for! On one hand, I know $189 isn't a lot for a window to be installed - the old adage "if it sounds too good to be true....". On the other hand, WW is a very large and successful organization. So they must be pleasing at least some of their customers. :) I think I need to get references for this area specifically, so I'll check on that.

Again thanks again - these boards are GREAT!
