My DH and I, along with another couple have rented a house in Wilmington, Vermont twice in the past few years as a getaway for both of our anniversaries (they fall within a week of each other). We usually stay at the house and chill out there and haven't ventured out much to see what's in town. I mean the house has a hot tub, pool table, games, movies, etc. We find it so relaxing just being able to chill out without the kids,ya know.

But if we do decide to do something, I'm just wondering if there's anything to do around there? We're going in the middle of October. I do remember some antique type shops but that was it. But that does not interest any of us. For those who live there or around there, what do you do for fun? LOL

I don't live exactly close to Wilmington, but most of us Vermont locals pass the time away in many exciting adventures. We have to pace ourselves because the excitement can be too much for some of us.

Last weekend, for example, we all gathered up our lawn chairs and headed on down to the volunteer fire department and spent a glorious afternoon watching them wash the fire trucks. For a different experience, many a happy hour has been spent in the park watching the grass grow.

When pressed for a more stimulating time, a few hours in the auto salvage yard observing, first hand, the rapid oxidation of junk cars cannot be beat... especially at sunset.

All kidding aside, even the Wilmington Website cannot come up with much for tourist to do other than see colored leaves (in the fall) and go completely brain dead the rest of the time. :rotfl:

Vermont is a very pretty state and any little car ride around the back roads would be quite restful and interesting. For the town of Wilmington itself, don't know...never been there, but since it is close to ski areas I'm sure there must be some nice clubs and restaurants in the area.

Disclaimer: If anyone in the state tourism department was just about to offer me a high paying job, promoting Vermont, the preceding message was forcibly required by a radical group of New Hampshire tourism personnel.
