I voted for liking them both equally. They are two very different movies, and I liked that. There are elements of the original that I just love and missed in the new one, but I really like some of the things they introduced in the new one, like Wonka's background and the follow up after the end of the tour of the factory.
I've never read the book, but knowing that the darkness of the new version was more true to the book helped me like the movie more. It's a pretty messed up story no matter how you look at it.
Johnny Depp and Gene Wilder were both perfect for the style of movies they were in.
