Hi everyone,
thanks for all of the help. Overall, the trip went pretty well.

The ride down took forever as it was raining (steady but not torrential downpours) enough though that you had to watch your speed.
Okay, so we get to Williamsburg. BTW, we were staying at a Wyndam (?) resort, the same one that owns Bonnet Creek.

Girls unpack and fortunately, it has stopped raining. Girls go off to
walmart superstore to grocery shop. Moms decide we were not cooking. One mom suggested we decide where we wanted to eat before leaving or we would end up just driving around. Other 2 were like 'nah, that won't happen'. Guess what! I drove up and down the same stretch of Richmond Rd 5 times! someone suggested chinese, one wasn't really a chinese fan. someone suggested something else, one wasn't really in the mood... someone suggested Red, Hot and Blue. My reflux was really bad that day, so I knew I couldn't do BBQ, but I offered to just go nextdoor to McD's. No, we want everyone to stay together. okay, whatever...

Finally, someone suggested Golden Corral. We all agreed and off we went. Mind you the Golden Corral was literally right at the main intersection of Richmond rd and the road we were staying off of.

It actually was a pretty nice GC and it was fish night. I

fish, so I was happy! You can tell we are 4 women used to dining w/ husbands as we came VERY close to not leaving a tip.

Oops. Fortuanately one of the moms remembered right before we walked out the door.

Next morning, we got up made Bfast for the girls which was waffles w/ various toppings. then after cleaning up, we just sat around and chatted for at least a couple of hours. Then we decided to take the ferry across the James river (I, think) to Surry county. We had lunch at the Surry House restaurant. It was very quaint and very reasonably priced. After that we took the ferry back and did a little shopping at Cmas Mouse (love that store, 1st time I'd ever been in one) and at the Yankee Candle flagship store. By that time it was time to go back to the condo because the girls were making dinner for us. They did a great job. They served boneless chicken stuffed w/ cheese and sweet red peppers, rice, some kind of potato dish, and green beans w/ almonds. My DD made the dessert which was chocolate toffee cake. YUM! It was very moist and I was most impressed w/ the fact that she was able to make it w/o a mixer.

. We spent a little time w/ them after dinner and then went back to our unit. I crashed early as my back/leg/hip/knee were killing me. On Sunday morning everyone got up and after packing up, they headed back home and DD stayed in CW on our own.
On Sat after the girls left from Bfast, we know that they took the ferry across the river, turned around and rode it back ( as the leader stated, 'this is a poor man's cruise')

. They went to Jamestown for awhile, had a picnic lunch somewhere around there. Came back to the complex and went swimming and played mini golf. Then made dinner for us. On friday night, not sure what else they did, they talked about going midnight bowling, but I don't know if that happened or not. DD said she did have a good time. So I was happy about that.
Okay, when DD and I went off on our own. First we hit the Coach outlet to use our extra 20% off coupon. Gotta have the priorities straight here.

After that we went to the visitors center for CW, got our tix and hopped on the next bus. We saw about 9 or 10 bldgs that we toured. DD seemed to enjoy it and said she did. I splurged on a carriage ride around CW. That was cool and well worth the $$ IMO. After that, we decided we were getting tired (it was fairly humid, but not as bad as WDW during the summer

) so we decided to go get the car and go check into the hotel. we stayed at a Comfort Inn (I think, we have the Choice benefits thingy). It was fine for one night and for what we needed. Don't think I'd want to stay there for a week, but a night or two was fine. I got it for $56 incl all taxes, etc. We freshened up and decided to splurge on a dinner at Capt'n George's. The food was excellent as was our service. We really enjoyed that ALOT! After that we checked out a couple of the little local type shops and then went back to the hotel to crash for the night. Mon morning, we got up, got ready and checked out. we went back to CW to tour the Govenor's Palace and a few other things. Left there and went to the Yankee candle store to dip our our candles (she made a few teacher gifts) and made our own candles too. DD is not usually a Yankee Candle fan, but she decided that she did like this store. LOL. we did something else too, but I can't remember. Then we decided to head home as it is a four hour drive for us. All in all a very good weekend. And we had some great mom/daughter time. We did decide to spend the extra $10 and $5 to get the passes to CW that are good for a whole year as she said she REALLY wanted to come back and spend more time here. Oh well, even if we don't use them w/in the year, I do feel like that the $$ was well spent as I'm sure the historical side of CW is hurting too in this economy.
Thanks to all of you who made suggestions. We did have a very nice time.
