Hello! I am getting ready to go to Williamsburg, VA. What should I see? Are there any great restaurants that I just don't want to miss? And yes, we are going to Busch Gardens.

Thanks in advance!

Jamestown Settlement is really nice! We liked it a lot.

Have a great trip!

There is a casual sandwich place called "The Cheese Shop" right next to historic Willamsburg that is good.

Captain George's is awesome. It's a seafood (and more) buffet.

If you're doing "historic Williamsburg" be prepared for a lot of walking. DH and I went last September. We enjoyed it, but didn't have nearly enough time to see all we wanted, and we didn't even make it to Busch Gardens!!!

The Yorktown battlefields were neat to see.

I'll differ on Captain George's. I thought it was a trough where there was lots of food and all of it mediocre.

Could you do some of us a favor? If you're near the Outback Steakhouse on Richmond Road could you stop in and ask them if they remember a group of, "internet friends" who ate there on March 13th? I bet that they will remember... :rolleyes1 ;)

Have fun! When are you going? We all loved Water Country, but that's only open in the summer.

We loved Christiana Campbell's. Kings Arms was ok. We loved walking through colonial Williamsburg! The gardens are beautiful. My daughter was 8 at the time and enjoyed asking questions of the "residents".
We especially loved the Capitol and the Governor's Palace but it's all great.
There's an interactive map if If you go to:

Any of the taverns in Colonial Williamsburg - Christiana Campbell's was especially good. The Trellis.

I also liked Capt. George's. The last time I was there though was in 1990. It is a trough but I think that's the appeal. If you go, wear loose pants and try what I call the Ho-Ho cake (if they still have it).

Is that the store that has all sorts of baking stuff and cheeses? If so, I love going in that place (there's one near Stuarts Draft, VA). Only problem I have is the different scents aggravate my allergies real bad.

ETA: OP, I believe King's Dominion is around that area as well.

I dont know if they still do this but i highly recommend trying to go to a 'with trial' there if you can!! They are held in the courthouse and are amazing. I went as a child and it scared the crap out of me-- but seriously was an amazing experience!!

I love their leek and potato soup-- cant remember where we would eat it at though. Goodness-- now I want to go back so bad!! Hmm-- might take a trip down on a long weekend!

I havent been in years-- how many days is recommended on doing just about everything?

:offtopic: Maggimus, I just have to tell you how beautiful your wedding dress is! Mine had ruffles on it as well, but were much more foofier (if that's even a word, lol).

In my previous post, I mentioned the witch trials--- the name of it is Cry Witch-- and it is very very good!!:goodvibes

Queen Elizabeth is visiting Jamestown in May... there are a lot of festivities planned there: www.jamestown2007.org .

I live in Yorktown. There is a lot of walking at the Yorktown Battlefield and be sure to drive along Colonial Parkway with such beautiful scenery.

Have fun!

There is a Mongolian restaurant in the KMart shopping center that my husband and I will drive 3 hours to get to just to eat.

I've gone to Williamsburg since I was a little girl. There are a few great dining locations. So far the ones that have been listed are great.
If you like BBQ there is Pierces Pit Barbque. It is on Southern Livings list of best BBQ.

If you like good southern food there is The Old Chickhominy House

My parents grew up in that area (now live in FL) and those are two of the restaurants that they will visit when they go there.
