Will you lose your ADRs if you cancel your room?

SIL has booked her dining for her Memorial Day weekend trip, but now is wanting to stay offsite instead of at CBR. She made all her dining ressies as an onsite guest (I think she did the 90+10 thing). She is worried that if she cancels her room, she will lose her ADRs. So, of course, she comes to me, the "Disney Expert" and of course, I don't know the answer.

I believe your ADRs and your room are separate, so if you cancel one you won't cancel the other. I'm pretty sure about this, but have your SIL verify when she calls to cancel.

So what would stop someone from making a room reservation, booking meals, then cancelling the reservation? I know there's a deposit, but you would get that back, and maybe even not have to pay the credit card bill if you did it fast enough.

This question is a little confusing. There is nothing stopping someone from doing that. Disney Dining does not ask for information relating to your package or hotel- they just need the dates, times, and restaurants you want. Guests who are staying offsite can call and make reservations, as well as Florida residents. Dining is totally separate from the hotel reservation system.

I think that black is saying, what would stop people staying offsite from trying to get those extra 9 days AND the ease of doing it all in one phone call...

one thing is the deposit...you have to tie up $200 with Disney and then get it back, sounds like a pain to me just to get ADRs...

I also imagine that most people staying offsite won't want as many ADRs anyhow, they won't be on the DDP.

I doubt people are flocking to do this.

Well my point was more simple. Call and book a reservation, call the next day and book dining, call the next day to cancel the reservation. It would hit the charge card and come right back off and never have to pay a dime. Yes, its a hastle, but if someone really wanted somewhere like the CRT, it wouldn't be out of the question, especially for some of the die-hard Disney fans.

It just came to mind when I was reading this and I threw it out there...I think the 90+10 is going to cause more and more trouble over the years. I just hope they get the online ADRs working as it will be so much simpler.

I thought for the 90+10 now you have to have a reservation number and it is linked to your reservation. . .

Also, for that matter, you could have Disney put a 7 day hold on a reservation and then never call back to make the deposit.

Either way, I think with the new dining reservaiton system, they would lose their reservations.

So as a CM here is the facts.....your dine reservations are "hooked" to your resort reservation but if you cancel that resort reservation it will NOT cancel your dine reservations.
