Will You Chill Out if I Sprinkle You With Pixie Dust? The End p136 *New TR Link* p138

I love this picture.

IMG_2635.jpg

Fun night...but I'm sure with a big group, it's hard to get what you want done.
I had some never ending rain (well it felt that way) last Aug too. UGH. The rain isn't so bad...but I hate the wet shoes.

Yeah, big thumbs down to stopping in the middle of the row! :sad2: And then to mock you for realizing you're not the only people in the theatre that matter. But I think you did the only thing you can do when people are like that - brush it off and have a good time anyway! :dance3:

Can't wait to hear the rest! Will the storm come in? Will you get to ride the rides? Will there be a meltdown? Or will the pixie dust do it's magic?

It's so funny that we are all just waiting to hear about the meltdown! I have this premonition of "and the rain, rain rain came down, down down..."

I think that's too much mayo for anything too! I'd prefer the Connecticut variety of lobster roll I think!

Glad you guys finally got to the park and got that one group picture!

You got a lot done already! He was scared, too cute. I get scared in that ride too. It got stuck twice the last time I went. I havnt seen the new queue yet so should do that next trip.

Love the street lamp shots, so pretty.

I HATE when people stop in the middle. It's a totally different thing if the show is almost starting and there's no one else coming in.

I am enjoying all the pictures. I love riding the boat over to MK. There is just something about that first view of MK from the water.

I hope by reading your report I will get tips on going with a group. I am going with my DH family in Jan. There will be 12 adults and a baby. I made ADA's on the 5th for the group and my DH's brother waited until 10:00pm on the 4th to let us know if they were joining us are not. I first ask him about joining us back in April.

Fantastic pictures! Loved the pic of the front of the park & castle. I have never eaten at CHH but plan on trying it next trip because I've heard such good things about it on the DIS.

Love the group shot...thank goodness you got it when you did!

People irritate me when they sit smack dab in the middle....same thing happened to us and unfortunately I tripped a little and ended stepping on a bunch of toes:confused3 Follow the rules people!!! Ok, now I'm done ranting too!

I can't wait to see the Beast's castle either....so exciting!!

/
Oooh, the seating incident is a huge pet peeve for me. Don't know why, but everytime I encounter people who blatantly ignore the CM looking directly at them saying, "Move all the way to end" my blood starts boiling. I'll admit, there's been a time or two where I'm not the nicest Disney guest to others who do that. Just downright rude. I mean, if the theater doors close, and I see that there's nobody else coming in, then I'll move to the center.

Sorry about the mini-rant!

The "I was scared" line had me laughing. Glad he picked up on that. :rotfl:

That sandwich did look like it had a lot of mayo on it. Yikes!

Hmm, I'm seeing some correlation between the rain and the meltdown here. Am I close?

I just want more. I am so looking forward to hearing this whole story!! Keep up the good work. I love the pictures!!!:goodvibes

ThanKs. Glad you are enjoying the pics and the beginning of the story. More to come soon!

I'll see if I can scan them and try and post them.

Please dont go to any extra trouble for me. I think I will check youtube too. There are a series of videos on there done by some guy who visits old, abandoned attractions in central Florida. He posted something on the Old River country. I wonder if he had something on the old treehouses.

I though that too until I used the historic view on Google Earth. It was intresting to see the new building laid over the old ones.

I am going to try that. It sounds pretty neat.

Nope the trehouses had there own entrance off of the street. I think there was also another set of vilas that had there own entrance too. Most of the way they were all designed was to be around the golf course.

That makes sense. I keep forgetting about the golf course and how that would be an obstruction to putting a regular road between the treehouses and the regular SSR villas.

Looks like you're in the middle of an update. I just wanted to say I love the castle shots you took and CHH is my favorite CS in MK. Good choice for a somewhat relaxing CS meal.

Thanks! I love taking pictures of the castle. I don't even remember taking those pics because I was so busy playing tour guide.

CHH turned out to be an excellent choice for our first group meal. It worked out great.

Yay! Y'all made it to MK!

Finally, right? Normally I like to get right to the parks, but I am glad I was patient.

Very nice group shot! :thumbsup2

Thanks. I love that picture! :goodvibes

I've heard many good things about CHH. Thinking of trying it on our upcoming trip.

I know this sounds crazy, but if you like tuna they have the best tuna salad sandwich on earth. I'm surprised I didn't get it. I guess I wanted to try something different. They do have chicken nuggets and fries for the non-fish eaters. Tip - go upstairs. The view is great and its never crowded.

Can't wait to hear about the looming meltdown. popcorn::

It is right around the corner. I was too tired to get to it last night.

Love evening EMHs at MK! Haven't found them to be as productive anywhere else, but then MK is open much later than the other parks.

I especially love MK MH in the summer. I love the outside temperature and the whole vibe. Its so fun!

I would love to stay at the GF someday. But I'd love to seem them freshen up the rooms first. They just don't seem to match the grandeur of that lobby. I love the lobby. Makes me feel like I'm in Lady and the Tramp or Mary Poppins. They just nailed the Victorian thing there.

They really did. I am so curious about what the rooms will look like. I find the whole overly floral thing a little tired, so I hope its upscale Victorian, if there is such a thing.

I just love the grounds so much and the pools are wonderful, plus the restaurants. I really, really want to stay there. I'm sure it will just be a couple nights because of the points, but still.

Great group shot at the castle! I think its right around the hub, as I start running toward the castle, that I get tears in my eyes. Every. Single. Time.

I know. Me too! Love the castle. Most iconic structure. Ever. I also love that group shot. We didn't get photopass so Ill make my bros family a couple of the pic from my camera. I just wish I could add my own border.

Wow...the distance lens gives you some great detail on the castle, something you don't get to see everyday.

It definitely has its pros and cons. I love detail and distance shots, but I always wish I had the regular lens on for the castle. I do the next day.

Funny, but I don't remember Mark's lobster roll looking so mayo-ey when he had it in February. Lobster rolls are a funny thing here in New England. Eveywhere but Connecticut, they're the mayo sorta salady things they serve at CHH. In Connecticut, you get picked lobster meat drenched in drawn butter served in a grilled hot dog bun. Point being, the mayo always seems weird to me.

OMG - that sounds so wonderful. I would love to try the Connecticut version. That's right up my alley. I like a little mayo on things, but not that much.

I love that you can get a salmon dinner like that at CS place.

A long line for IASW? I don't think I've ever seen that, or if I have, we've kept walking.
I will admit that this ride is annoying, but I love the hula girls. They're just so cute!

Long line does equal keep walking. But the line moved. Yeah. Those hula girls are so cute. I agree with that.

They are really making progress on that castle. Wonder if it will be done by October? I've heard some rumors that Be Our Guest will be open by then.

That would be so cool. I would love to eat there if it was open. I'll be watching for updates.

Oh...come on..why you'd skip the ears? I always see things like that at the parks and think they're a good idea, but then I think about how much I'd wear them and well...they go back on the rack!

Seriously, where else would you wear them without people thinking you are crazy? I do love a cute set of ears though. :goodvibes

Uh-oh...weather doesn't look promising at all!

:sad2: It poured! But more on that in the next update.

Oops...I posted before you were done with your updates. Sorry!

No worries. I usually try to open a bunch of windows and then post all at once, but I was tired last night and decided not to risk an accidental deletion.

The Haunted Mansion is a great 1st ride! I haven't been on it during our last few trips but hope to do it this year. It's just so much fun!

It is one of my absolute favs. I just love it because it has something for everyone. I wish it was just a tad longer, but still love it all the same.

No love for IASW? :sad1: I know....it's the ride that people either love or hate. I finally started getting better at taking pics without my flash on that ride. But, Peter Pan still gives me lots of trouble. :headache:

I don't hate it, but its just not one of my favs. I think I've ridden it so many times that I don't mind skipping it for several trips in a row.

Love the picture of your son texting on the carousel! :rotfl: Is that what I have to look forward to when Reid gets older?

Well, yes you do! :rotfl: And so much more. Enjoy the preschool/school age years while you can because once they become a pre-teen, buckle up!

Sounds like y'all were having a nice time. I hope there wasn't a storm coming y'alls way! :sad2:

There's a storm coming all right. More than one, actually! :rotfl2:

Yeah for dinner and rides! Boo for storms rolling in, too much mayo, rude people and lost kids stuck at the end of a row. All in all though, seems to going pretty well so far :)

:rotfl: I think you pretty much summed it all up Cynthia! :rotfl: So far things are going great, but that's about to change!

Looks like you at least had some good times that first night.

WE sure did. It was nice that we focused on rides that we could all do together. :thumbsup2

I hate when people stop in the middle, my Mom always hated it, too. (she used to step on their feet as she climbed over them....)

:rotfl: I always envision myself tripping over them and ending up in their lap. "Oops!" Glad I am not the only person totally annoyed by middle seat dwellers.

I can't wait to see the GF DVC when it's all done either! I'm sure it will be gorgeous!

I think so too. I wonder how hard it will be to get a reservation. I'm hoping that I may be able to try it in September of January.:)

Your lobster roll does look very mayo-y. I really hate mayo, that would have definitely been a meal passed over to DF! :rotfl:

It was really much too heavy on the mayo, but I managed to eat it all. I guess I'm not that picky. :rotfl:

(Hey, this was the first post where I got to type "DF"! :thumbsup2)

I love that! And just when you get used to that it will be time to change to DH. :cheer2:

I'm glad things were going well! (At least, seemingly up until this point!)

Things did go very well for our first few hours in the park, but that's about to change.

Things do seem to be off to a good start... other than the impending storm and meltdown!

Yup - that about sums it up. The storm and meltdown are right around the corner.

I am definitely not a fan of IASW but agree it is a must for a first timer. What did the gang think of it?

Definitely necessary for a group of first timers. Considering it was a boat full of boys, I think they really enjoyed it.

What a cute response from your youngest nephew at HM. He knows how important the trip is to you. :goodvibes

It was adorable. It was one of those, "you had to be there moment" because he was so freaking cute.

That lobster roll does look a bit mayo-heavy but totally agree it's a good CS spot with some interesting non-standard choices. I tried the hummus sandwich in May and it was good! :thumbsup2

The hummus sandwich is on my CHH bucket list because I absolutely love hummus. I guess I always wonder how filling it is because I think I must eat 5 times as much in Disney World.

You should have gotten the princess ears!! ::yes::

Then I would have had to wear them in October during the DIS meet. :rotfl:

Be back soon with more replies! :goodvibes

Great update! FANTASTIC pictures!!!

I love the one of the castle and train station from the ferry. I don't even know how long it has been since I have been on the ferry. Probably over 20 years!

Very nice group shot. Like you, I am the one behind the camera. I am always sad that we don't get more family shots during our trips.

You know I applaud your choice of Columbia Harbor House! I'm glad everyone enjoyed it. Such great atmosphere in there.

A nice start with rides. I think the Small World photos are great! I like the photos from that attraction more than the ride itself.

The sky looks very, very scary!

Looks like yall had a productive evening!!

There's always SOMEONE who thinks the rules don't apply to them, even at a place like Disney. It always baffles me. :confused3

Ahhh, I hope the storm isn't TOO bad and the meltdown isn't TOO terrible!

I would have been just like you and itching to get to a park! It's been years since we've driven to the Magic Kingdom but I can honestly say, I don't miss it one bit. Well, maybe the view from the ferryboat but not much else.

I hope that those dark clouds don't mess up the rest of your evening. They look a bit scary.

Not to make light of your pain, but I had to giggle at the title.
LOVE that view coming into MK via ferry! :lovestruc
That's a great group shot! And just think, in years to come when memories of the negative aspects fade, you can look back on that picture of everyone smiling and all you'll remember is the good, not the meltdowns :goodvibes
I've never eaten at CHH! I should give it a try. Your food looks good even though I'm not a seafood lover. Or liker. Or tolerater. Yeah I like my fish alive in tanks of water. :lmao:
HM! What a great first stop! Love CJ's "I was scared" quote so matter-of-fact. Adorable.

"Don't worry", I reassured everyone. "It always rains in Florida, but it never lasts long"

Famous Last Words!
Oh no!!! I hope you all made the best of it, but seeing the word meltdown in the title makes me think otherwise.

Great photos this update! Loved them, felt like I was right there with you!

Sounds like things were off to a good start... but I'm a bit nervous for the next update.

As you should be! :rotfl: It wasn't one of my most magical moments in the world. It's Coming up soon!

AT LAST...a park!! I don't know I could have been as patient as you were!

I knew it was going to be an evening park day and I was OK with it because I still had many more park days left. But by late afternoon I was definitely getting antsy. :rotfl:

I personally am an IASW lover  but I get why not everyone is overly fond (for me, it's a childhood memory/ classic Walt thing). your "not so good, low light" pictures are great!!

It is a classic ride and I would love to experience the IASW at DL to compare. Thanks for the compliment on the pics!

I'm with you on the middle of the row thing at Philharmagic. Either let others in first or move to the end of the row! Last summer we went in to the theater and the waiting area was quite empty so I told Greg to go ahead and stop in the middle of the row since there weren't a lot of people coming in behind us and he had a hard time doing it LOL!

I have a hard time doing that too!

Ugh - I get so irritated with people who stop in the middle of a row. It happens to me all the time. I must have radar for that row. :sad2:

I'm nervous for you, there is a strong sense of impending doom in your trip, perhaps starting with HM was an omen!

I never thought about that. Maybe you're right. I should have picked IASW as the first ride. :rotfl: But I love me some HM, so I just had to go there first.

Love CHH :thumbsup2 But on our trip in November my sister's kids threw a fit because there wasn't anything on the menu they liked :sad2: They are soooo picky!! We ended up at Pecos Bills.

Really? There are kids who don't like chicken fingers? Who knew! I fell in love with CHH when I took the KTTK tour and I had the tuna sandwich - sooooooo good! Seems like a weird thing to eat while at the parks, but SO good.

People that don't move to the end of a row infuriate me!! I can see not doing it if it's empty, but when it's full they need to move their butts down!! :lmao: Great pics by the way!

The only way I can understand that happening is if they don't speak English and these people clearly did. Plus - it gives their kids the wrong message. I totally don't get it and if I was a CM I would probably be in their face - nicely, of course, but in their face nonetheless! :rotfl:

I love this picture.

IMG_2635.jpg

Thanks! I kept trying to focus on the castle and NOT the trees, but no such luck.

Fun night...but I'm sure with a big group, it's hard to get what you want done.
I had some never ending rain (well it felt that way) last Aug too. UGH. The rain isn't so bad...but I hate the wet shoes.

I knew this trip wasn't for me, so I was OK with it. I was really enjoying doing the groups rides because I knew we would be splitting up the next day.

I use those teva flip flops. They are great in the rain, but I know what you mean about wet shoes and suck. Ugh!

Yeah, big thumbs down to stopping in the middle of the row! :sad2: And then to mock you for realizing you're not the only people in the theatre that matter. But I think you did the only thing you can do when people are like that - brush it off and have a good time anyway! :dance3:

That's exactly what you need to do or things could get ugly, real fast. I know I shouldn't let stuff like that bother me, but I do. I guess its one of my pet peeves and it seems to happen way too much.

Can't wait to hear the rest! Will the storm come in? Will you get to ride the rides? Will there be a meltdown? Or will the pixie dust do it's magic?

Unfortunately, there was not enough pixie dust that evening to save us from the events that ensued. :sad2:

It's so funny that we are all just waiting to hear about the meltdown! I have this premonition of "and the rain, rain rain came down, down down..."

Oh, the rain came all right. It really wasn't what I thought would happen and the timing was terrible.

I think that's too much mayo for anything too! I'd prefer the Connecticut variety of lobster roll I think!

Way too much mayo. Doesn't that Connecticut version sound great? Everytime I think about it I want to take a trip north to New England. :rotfl:

Glad you guys finally got to the park and got that one group picture!

I'm so thrilled we got the group shot. I got them all lined up before they knew what hit them. Seriously, I didn't say, "let's get a picture". I just said, "stop here". ;)

You got a lot done already! He was scared, too cute. I get scared in that ride too. It got stuck twice the last time I went. I havnt seen the new queue yet so should do that next trip.

The evening really started off well. I was so pleased, until those dark clouds rolled in.

My youngest nephew cracks me up. He's really smart and he says the cutest things. He also just rolls with it. I love that.

Love the street lamp shots, so pretty.

Thank you! I have a light fixation.

I HATE when people stop in the middle. It's a totally different thing if the show is almost starting and there's no one else coming in.

I totally agree and I will NEVER understand why people do that. It is just SO obnoxious and they look like such @$$es.

I am enjoying all the pictures. I love riding the boat over to MK. There is just something about that first view of MK from the water.

Thanks! I love that view too. I have even parked at Epcot and taken the monorail to MK just to get that view from the ferry. It's just perfect.

Wow - that's a big group. I can totally relate to the BIL thing. That happened to me with my brother. I asked them to go last August and in April I still didn't have a confirmation. I finally told them I was going to cancel my reservation and downgrade to a 1 BR because I did not think they were interested in going. When I turned the screws, he finally agreed to go. It was not pretty. :sad2:

Fantastic pictures! Loved the pic of the front of the park & castle. I have never eaten at CHH but plan on trying it next trip because I've heard such good things about it on the DIS.

:welcome: Mom&RN. Thanks for joining in! I think this is your first post here because I would have remembered the Mom&RN name since I am also an RN, actually a nurse practitioner.

I love CHH. Definitely a nice environment with good food.

Love the group shot...thank goodness you got it when you did!

I know - because we never got another. Things just always felt way too hectic. I love that pic. :thumbsup2

People irritate me when they sit smack dab in the middle....same thing happened to us and unfortunately I tripped a little and ended stepping on a bunch of toes:confused3 Follow the rules people!!! Ok, now I'm done ranting too!

Good for you for tripping. They deserve it. :rotfl:If you are going to sit like that you deserve to have some bruised toes. :rotfl:

I can't wait to see the Beast's castle either....so exciting!!

It is going to be SOOOOOOO cool! Can't wait!

I wish that the CM would actually say something before the show to embarrass them, but they get away with it every time. I think my blood was starting to boil right then and there, so I'm glad I let it go.

The "I was scared" line had me laughing. Glad he picked up on that. :rotfl:

OMG - it was so adorable. I kept repeating it all week long.

That sandwich did look like it had a lot of mayo on it. Yikes!

Way too much mayo, but that didn't stop me from inhaling the whole thing. :rotfl:

Hmm, I'm seeing some correlation between the rain and the meltdown here. Am I close?

BINGO! Stay tuned!

Great update! FANTASTIC pictures!!!

I love the one of the castle and train station from the ferry. I don't even know how long it has been since I have been on the ferry. Probably over 20 years!

Thank you!

20 years since the ferry? OMG - next trip go out of your way just to take it. I've done it a couple times coming off the monorail just to get that view. It's so magical.

Very nice group shot. Like you, I am the one behind the camera. I am always sad that we don't get more family shots during our trips.

When I go with just my family I am pretty pushy about getting lots of PP pics, but I just didn't want to be irritating with my bro's family. I didn't know if they would "get" it. When its your first trip I don't think your priority is tons of pictures.

You know I applaud your choice of Columbia Harbor House! I'm glad everyone enjoyed it. Such great atmosphere in there.

I love that place. Probably my fav QS in the MK. I love the interior. Its perfect and I love the views from the upstairs.

A nice start with rides. I think the Small World photos are great! I like the photos from that attraction more than the ride itself.

I think I have to agree with you on that! I do love taking pics in there because there really is so much to look at.

The sky looks very, very scary!

That sky was quite ominous and I was in complete denial.

So sorry I am not getting to all the replies right now. I have to go over my music for tomorrow. Be back as soon as I can.

Thanks for all the great comments and responses. :thumbsup2

I think HM is probably my fave ride in MK. Pirates is my second. IASW is my least favorite, but is good for a cool sit down on a hot day. When we usually go there is never a wait to ride IASW.

If you like some ears you must get them. You can always wear them on the next trips. I have my special ears & wear them on every trip. They are no longer sold at WDW & i'm always asked where to get them.

I don't that any family can get through WDW without at least one meltdown. Excitement & expectations are so high that everyone is stressed a little & it comes out.:rolleyes2

Great update! I love CHH, I don't know why we don't go there more often! I'm going to have to remember they have salmon, I've become kind of obsessed with salmon ever since I had it at Cape May, so I'd like to try it somewhere else!

Yay for HM being your first ride, can't go wrong with a classic! :cool1:

Ugh, I can't stand when people don't move all the way over in a theater. If there aren't a lot of people, that's one thing, but when it's crowded, just move it! :rotfl:

Oh no, rain? Ughhhh!!! :crazy2:

ooooo, MEK I am new to posting on your TR, though I've been reading along - I'm mostly a lurker. I don't know if you noticed my tickers in my sig line but I graduate this December then I will also be an NP!!! School has gone really well, in clinicals now with some great family practice MDs and NPs, starting to get nervous about taking my boards! :teacher: Please lie to me and tell me they'll be easy! :lmao:
