Having someone handle ADRs for me is one reason I chose a TA for this trip. However, I'm a little nervous that when the system is finally a go, she'll be so backed up doing all her customers that I might be better calling on my own. Or do TAs have a secret "in" to get it done faster? Thoughts? What would you do?

I guess I'm a control freak, but I wouldn't trust my TA to make my ADRs (even in normal cirucumstances, but especially with the changes).

It really depends on the TA - If you are comfortable with your TA and have the trust there then any good TA will prioritize their ADR's based on the restaurants. For example Le Cellier, Fantasmic dinner packages, Hoop de dooetc, would be the first to be booked and go from there. CRT and Chef Mickey are available to book until June 19th so those should already be done

You also have to remember that most TA's will not have a ton of places to book at once because a lot of people to tend to make their own ADR's. Also most good TA's will not use the online system right away for the most important reservations as they will not be used to the system yet. They would still call in to take care of them. Personally I would do both. I would be on the phone and trying online and go with whatever gets through first

My TA offered to book our ADR's for two of the restaurants that we could book right now, and then do the rest later. Well, she mades errors with both of the ADR's, which meant I had to get in touch with her again to tell her about the errors, and then a third time to make sure they were correct! It would have been much easier to just have done it myself - as I have done in the past. When the system opens up, I'm just going to call myself for the rest of our ADR's.

My TA has been making our ADR's for five of our last six trips and I have the utmost confidence in her. She has been able to get us LeCellier every time and has gotten all of our requests within 5 to 10 minutes of our requested time.

:thumbsup2 I'm the same way. I don't understand why someone would ever need a TA for a WDW vacation.

Many reasons - some are
People don't have time to keep watch on their own reservations for discounts, etc. Have worked with a TA that they really like and are comfortable with so why stop. With the economy so bad and many people losing their jobs why not give the TA your business it helps the person keep their job and doesn't cost you anything extra

I use my AAA TA just so we can get the Diamond parking pass...but I do the ADRs myself (I want to be able to make the decisions when this or that might not be available! Definitely OCD...Obsessive Compulsive Disney-planner!:rotfl2: )

Perhaps when that new baby comes you will understand! :)

:confused3 There are many, many people who have children that don't use TAs, including my own parents who never used one on their many trips to WDW. I think between DH and I we can squeeze in a few hours each month to check for discounts and make ADRs. It's not like it takes a huge amount of time to do this.

Because I get absolutely no benefit from employing a TA. They don't get you any deals that you can't get for yourself and the work that they actually do for you is minimal. I don't just give people my business because I feel sorry for them. I am not confident that your average TA knows any more than me or anyone else who frequents these board about WDW. Besides all that, I quite enjoying planning the elements of my own trip.

I was just pointing out the reasons why people use TA's there is no need to get ugly about it. No one was picking on you or saying you should use one. You made a statement "I don't know why people use a TA" I was responding to that

My TA know alot about Disney and often contacts me with information that pertains to my reservation before it is even on these boards. She goes to Disney herself at least twice a year and also on the Disney cruise once a year. I am very confident in my TA and her knowledge of the Disney product. She is one of the highest producing single agents of Disney travel, this was told to her by Disney excutives. I tend to believe that this is because she is so knowledgeable of the product.

Without knowing my TA and my situation saying that my TA knows less then people on these boards is ignorant on your part

I am on these board just because I like to "talk" Disney

I'm really sorry. I did not mean to make this personal. I wasn't upset in my last post and do apologize if it came across that way.

However, I did not say that your TA doesn't know as much as me about Disney. My comment was about the average TA. For instance, if I walk down the street to the only TA in my town, I do not feel confident that they will know as much as I do or be as competent in planning.

If people want to use a TA, go right ahead. The OP was asking for opinions. I was just giving mine.

We're closing this thread since it's veered pretty far off topic for the question - Will you be trusting your ADRs to a TA when the system opens?
