We have an 8:10 AM ADR for Crystal Palace. What are the chances we'll be out for rope drop? Or should we just do lunch there and skip breakfast? TIA!!!!

If you are not that concerned with getting ALL the character's autographs then you could make it. But if I were you I'd just relax and have a nice breakfast and if you're late to rd then that's ok, you won't be THAT late.

Watching the clock doesn't make for a pleasant meal imo.

Last time was had an 8:10..we were seated at 8:20. Everyone got to eat and get pics with all the characters. We still waited over 5 minutes in front of the rope in Adventureland and were the first on Pirates.

One tip I learned here on the boards: ask for the check when you sit down. That way you don't need to wait around for your sever to bring it to you at the end of the meal, but you can just run off when you want. :goodvibes

Can someone explain to me what is "rope drop?"

the term rope drop is right before a parks scheduled opening there will be ropes inside the park blocking off the rest of the park (such as on main street at magic kingdom, right before the tree of life at animal kingdom) guests are allowed past the main gates before 9am or the parks scheduled opening time but the attractions are not open yet. It basically means the cast members will drop the rope and or walk you to the bigger attractions in that theme park and the park is officially open so you can go on attractions.

its a good touring plan to be at a park for the rope drop so you can get to the bigger attractions with little to no wait.

I think if you get to the magic kindgom early enough and tell the waitor/waitress you want to make the rope drop they will get you out of the restaurant as fast as they can. disney is know for super fast service at dining restaurant imo almost a little too fast. I really dont think it will be a problem. and if you havent met all the characters I would just tell your waitress and then they will do their best to have the characters come see you before you leave. the staff is usually very accomodating when you tell them you havent seen a particular character yet (within reason of course)

Every trip we book the earliest CP breakfast we can, we'll be "late" this year at 8:15 but plan on checking in early and hoping to get seated quickly. We almost always make rope drop and usually get to see all of the characters. DS will be 14 this year and really doesn't care if he sees all of the characters, but I like them ;)

And as another poster mentioned, even if you don't make rope drop you are still way ahead of the crowds just by being there so early, enjoy your breakfast and don't worry about it.

I think it might be tight. CP is one restaurant that we find we consistently get seated later than our ADR. I haven't done as early as your ADR, so hopefully it's not backed up yet in terms of a wait. Good luck!! :goodvibes

I second that!! Our waitress took our dining card when she served the coffee and juice. By the time we got back from getting our food it was all done and we left as soon as we were fininshed.
