Will we fit?

We plan on keeping our 14' enclosed utility trailer at our site, along with our 40' motorhome. Do you think we'll fit "end to end" (so we can just back in) in loops 600 or 700? We're thinking of having our daughter and son-in-law park it behind their motorhome because they're only 35', but didn't know if those extra 5' would make a difference or not. I know they've made the sites larger - but that large? :) I don't know what we would do without these boards. :confused3

They widened the sites but not lengthened. But, there are some long sites this might be doable.

There are definitely some sites in the expanded area of 600 loop that will accommodate you. There may be some elsewhere. You can make your needs known at the time you place your reservation. Some also fax a request to the front desk at FW about 5 days before the check in date.

They will have a book at the check in that gives site measurements, so you can check then and see how it looks. You can also make your needs know at the time you place your reservation. Some also fax a request to the front desk at FW about 5 days before the check in date.

We're about 58' long with our trailer attached, and we have no problem fitting onto a premium site. Be aware, though, that you may need extra cable and sewer because the connections are so far back on the site.

Thank you so much for your replies. As always, VERY helpful. My husband and son-in-law are experiences "backers", as we've owned popups and trailers for years before going to motorhomes, but we JUST purchased the trailer for our golf cart and have never backed anything with our 40' diesel motorhome. We always pulled our jeep, which, of course, can't be backed up. ;) Is it difficult to back up a 14' trailer with a 40' motorhome?? Have you found many sites that were difficult to get into? I would love to hear ALL of your recommendatons. We worry that we'll end up with a site that we can't get into, and we'll have to find someone with a truck to back up our trailer. :worship:

We have a 37' motorhome and a 12' trailer. I would not even think of trying to back into a campsite, even a premium with the wider entrance. I have backed a short distance in a straight line, but once you start a turn, it's hard to control where it goes. It all has to do with the physics of the length of overhang, axle placement, angle of your turn, etc. If you want to try, I would find a large open parking lot and give it a try...or two...or three. Be careful not to jack-knife. The corner of the trailer will approach the corner of your motorhome very quickly.:sad2::sad2::mad:

CCIntrigue, what's an "extender" on your trailer? Do you think we'll be able to back in? Both my husband and son-in-law are "pro's", but we've never backed anything except a small, open utility trailer with the motorhome. :cool2:

If all you have is the golf cart in the trailer, can't you just leave it in the overflow lot? Just get a good hitch lock and drive the GC to the site. You don't have to worry about backing in etc. Just a suggestion.

Best Regards,
Norm

We debating doing exactely that. When we used to bring the small, open utility trailer with us, we left it out in the overflow lot. But we REALLY want to have the enclosed trailer on our lot with us so we can pull the golf cart and bikes into it at night or in bad weather, as well as keeping our granddaughters toys, trikes, and such in there. :rolleyes1

We went out and purchased an extender today, but we'll just put it on before we back the trailer up. We don't want to pull it all the way from Michigan with the extender. The trailer is a "V nose" too, which helps. Maybe some nice Fort neighbor will offer to back the trailer for us with their truck? :worship:
