Our tent camping trip to FW is coming up vewy vewy soon - only 11 more days now!

Some of you may recall that hubby and I bought a tent recently (former TT owners, new tenters, longtime FW lovers) and took it out for a one-night tryout at a nearby state park.

Our 20yo DD is coming to FW with us, and her boyfriend is coming along as well. Boyfriend has his own tent, and we had planned on buying a small tent for DD to use.

The tent we bought for ourselves is 12x10, and while it probably should have been perfectly adequate for the two of us, hubby has since decided that he doesn't want to spend a week in the thing, because isn't tall enough for him to stand up straight anywhere except the exact middle. So we went tent shopping again, and ended up buying this bad boy, which is 19x10, and way bigger than the two of us need, but in which hubby can comfortably stand:

We figured that now DD can have the medium sized tent, and we won't have to buy the little one.

So, we now have one tent that's 19x10, one that's 12x9, and a third one (the boyfriend's), that is probably something like 10x10.

My question is - assuming we get one of the larger sites on the 2000 loop, will we be able to squeeze all 3 tents on it? If not, no biggie, DD can just sleep in our big tent with us, but we'd prefer to give her the privacy of her own tent, if possible.

So, what do you guys think?

Dont know if it will fit but we are leaving in 13 days staying the 11th thru th18 maybe we see yal there. :)

hmm, boyfriend in one tent, DD in another tent, you guys in a third...where is the watchdog???:lmao:

sorry for going there, but I coach HS softball, that is the first thing I have to take into consideration on trips, where is the boyfriend(s)?

I think it will be a tight squeeze, but you can do it.

Well, considering that DD is 20 and lives in her own apartment, I'm afraid my watchdog days are over. However, she wants her own tent, and therefore, she shall have it. :rotfl2:

Now that's what I want to hear! :yay:

Well, 20 is a different story...I had one of my girls I coached decide it was a good idea to move BF in her house this year...mom went along with it too! I was horrified. Sorry, just the coach in me...

You need to stay in the 1500 or 2000 loop they have bigger areas for tents.

2000 is the only Loop where you will find a site big enough!!

Thanks for the replies, everybody, but I'm going to ask that you all back off the issue of my DD and her boyfriend and who's sleeping where.

On the subject of our two tents, I'm happy to report that we set them up in the yard this weekend to seal the seams, then left them up in a thunderstorm to test them. Both tents stayed dry!

Please let us know how it worked out when you come back. We're going in July with two tents (15x14 and 12x10) and I'm worrying about the same thing. I've requested the 2000 loop so maybe we will be okay. Hope you have a fantastic time!!!

Great! Please do tell us how everything went when you return. Please also know that some people express genuine concern based on our own experiences while others just make rude comments because they are trying to get unneeded attention. I hope you know I was the first and not the latter.

I thought only 2 tents were permitted per site? I could be wrong on this but I've seen it commented more than once. Here is something I found on it below but doesn't fully answer the question. Maybe one of the veterans can answer for sure.

From a recent question I just answered.

What can we put on our site??

One camping unit (meaning RV, motorhome, travel trailer, popup, truck camper, camper van, teardrop, etc.) and 1 personal vehicle are allowed.

In addition, you can erect as many tents, awnings, shelters, screen rooms, tarps, etc. as you like and you can park as many utility trailers/boats, golf carts, bicycles, scooters, etc, as you wish AS LONG as they fit within the confines of your driveway and sand pad.

A recent guest was asked to removed a 2nd tent he had set up at a full hookup site with an RV. We haven't seen the policy in writing yet, but he was told 2 tents on a site without a camper, and 1 tent on a site with a camper

They don't mind if you spread over the edges a bit, but don't want things completely set up or parked in the pine straw areas.

Thanks, Jen - all is well.

I've seen that, too, but I've also seen stories of people putting more than the legal limit on their site, and only one story of someone being asked to take down a tent. Basically, I'm hoping to get away with it. :rotfl2:

Forgiveness is always easier to get than permission!!! :lmao: I say try it first, the worse that will happen to you is being ask to remove one.

Yeah...Id just go for it too...if they ask ya to take one down....at least ya got that big ol'honkin 19footer...with those 2 room dividers!!!!..Boy, those room dividers really offer lots of privacy, huh??? ;)

My thoughts exactly!

Oh my word - those things are worthless! For one thing, they only come up about neck high on grownups, and for another, they're completely see-through. However, we did find that if we put two of them together, they were a little more opaque, so if we have to use them, that's what we'll do. We'd only need one extra "room" anyway.
