Will we be disappointed?

Will we be disappointed coming from the Dolphin to Port Orleans Riverside? We usually stay at the Dolphin but this time the rooms are so much more expensive that we can't justify it. We booked the POR and now I'm wondering if I'll be disappointed or just as happy? Any comments?

I think that you will really enjoy the POR, the themeing is great, the rooms are smaller than the Dolphin, but comfortable.
The food court is a nice size and the food at the sit down restuarant was very good.
You can also rent the water mice or boats at the marina.
I like both the POR and the POFQ.

The POR is a beautiful resort. The rooms are very nice, and the landscaping is beautiful. The pool is a lot of fun, and there is a boat ride to Downtown Disney that is very pleasant and relaxing.

The main thing you're going to miss by being at the POR instead of the Dolphin is the location. You won't be able to walk to Epcot and MGM. But, you know that going in, so hopefuly that won't be an issue.

I think you will enjoy por we have stayed here twice now and we are going again in october. The rooms are nice and have just been recently refurbished so should be even better than before. I hope you enjoy it. :Pinkbounc

You'll be on Disney property, how can you be disappointed?! :cheer2:

I have not stayed at POR but hope to some day. I have stayed at the Dolphin and while it was a nice hotel it just didn't have that Disney Magic for me. My DH wasn't all that impressed either. I travel a lot but he has not. He said he would much rather stay at CSR than the Dolphin.

Enjoy your trip!

I've stayed at both. With the Dolphin you get in the elevator, go down a hallway, etc. At POR you just go out your door and you're outside.

I prefer POR for that reason; however, I think you will miss the walk to Epcot/Studios.

p.s. Don't forget to check out Bob Jackson in the River Roost Lounge!!!

can't you boat from POR to epcot/mgm?

"can't you boat from POR to epcot/mgm?"

No, the boat goes from the POR, the POFQ and then to Downtown Disney. In order to get to MGM or Epcot you must take the bus.

I really enjoyed Riverside, it comes in second - a close second - behind Coronado for my favorite moderate.

We didn't spend much time at the pool but it was nice, had a water slide and was big. I did enjoy Riverside and wouldn't hesitate to go there again.

I have stayed at both resorts twice each. The Dolphin is very nice with larger rooms and the pool is wonderful. We loved the dining there also. POR is also nice. We have stayed in both sections and enjoy the antebellum styling more. It is also closer to Food Court. Used the marina and pools. Very nice. I don't think you should be disappointed. Even though Dolphin is "nicer", just think of your savings. I found the Dolphin lobby and hallways to be a bit dark, but the bedding is heavenly! But, I love the Disney-themed resorts!
