Will we be comfy in a studio?

I have booked a BWV studio for my family (myself, hubby and 9 yrs old son) for 8 nights the first week of April. We have never stayed in a studio before just a 1 BR. We are a family that spends quiet a bit of time at our resort. We are planning 2 trips next year in April and Sept so I am trying to conserve points by staying in a studio in April since the points are much higher during that time. My questions are do you think we will be comfortable for 8 nights in the studio? How much trouble is it to pull out the sofa bed everynight and is it comfortable?

Yes, yes you will. We had a 2BR where the 2nd BR (studio) was my sister, brother-in-law, niece and nephew. The kids were 7 and 6 or so. We actually had 8 in the 2BR total. It was plenty of room for both the studio and 2BR. The only drawback was a 3rd bathroom would have been nice. Now, with AKV and BLT you can get that.

I think you'll be fine.

We did a studio at BWV when our son was about 5. It was okay, but we still prefer one bedrooms. But we didn't care for BWV at all, so that was our last stay there. And I'm not a fan of having to go to the laundry room to do our laundry and hope to find an empty machine or two. It's so much more convenient to have the washer and dryer right in the villa.

We're not the type to just sleep and bathe in the villa. We enjoy spending time in the villa, so a studio just doesn't cut it for us to do that.

A studio works just fine for my family of 4 (we have done 1BRs as well though) because:

1) I refuse to cook on vacation anyway (love the Dining Plan) so no need for a full kitchen. The only thing we use the fridge for is DH's beer.

2) I refuse to do laundry on my vacation, so no need for the washer/dryer

3) my family doesn't really hang out in our room. We prefer to hang "around" the resort (in the lounge, by the pool, etc.)

* Takes less than 5 min. to pull-out the sofabed. My kids have never had any complaints sleeping on them, although DS preferred the sleeper chair in the living room of our 1BR at BLT over the sofabed there.

I agree..I will not cook on vacation either but I will do laundry so I will miss the W/D. We also prefer to hang around the common areas at the resort opposed to the room. My fav place being the Belle Vue Lounge. We would love to stay at BLT but by the looks of the studio pics there it looks way to small and crowded. My son likes to have floor space to play with his toys while were in the room.

If you are worried about the size then how about OKW the rooms are much larger. My sister could not believe the size difference between he studio at VWL compared to the ones at OKW.

I thought about OKW since we just did an add on there, but I think I want to wait until the refurb is complete to stay there. My son asked to stay at BWV he really loves the clown slide and all the entertainment at the BW. I love the location.

That is a LONG time to be in a studio. You might want to arrange a kids club for a few evening hours for your son, if you know what I mean.

The "creepy clown" ?

Yes, the BWV location is awesome

Hard question. We may have different comfort levels. But, we have 2 adults and one 6 year old in a studio and it is fine. My personal cutoff would be:

Studio: 3 people
One bedroom: 4 people
Two bedroom: 5-7 people
Three bedroom: 8 people

What do others say?

Yes, OKW rooms are bigger. However, keep in mind that is you are looking for floor space you might not want to choose OKW. There are 2 beds in their studios, not a bed and pull out sofa as in the other studios at other resorts. If you have the sofa, at least during the day you will have floor space.

Personally the Clown creeps me out too, but my son thinks that getting "spit out" by the clown is great. :lmao:

At least that's better than what some people think about coming out of the clown's mouth... ;)

Can you use the bwv clown pool when staying at bcv?

As long as pool hopping isn't blacked out, you can swim at the BWV.

The pullout sofa at BWV was comfy DD and I slept on it in a 1BR when we were there last month.

You will miss the 1BR! After three 2BR trips, we went to a studio for 3 nights at VWL with me, DH, DS12, SS10. We thought it was too small! Before DVC, it would have been fine, but now we are spoiled!

Wait, don't ask us about the studio question, with our family of four, we are staying at the THV's in January, so maybe the smallness of the studios is relative!!!!:rotfl:

Make sure you try the community hall. They have all sorts of games, activities. $15 tye dye mickey head tshirt on Sunday! Kids had more fun there than at the clown pool. They said it was "too slow". I did not try it, so I don't know if that is really accurate. But, that is the first slide that they have't liked at WDW's properties (POR, POFQ, WL, OKW, AKL, SSR, and Dolphin).

I almost forgot, the washer and dryer in room will also be missed.

We are a family of three, dh, me, and ds, now age 14. We've only stayed in studios since buying DVC in 2001. Have stayed at all the locations except SSR. BWV studios are just fine. As long as cooking and laundry are not an issue, there's plenty of room. Drawer space is at a premium, however. You'll have to get creative with storing clothing. Pulling out the sofa is not a problem. Our son has done it himself for the last 3 years or so. We've even stayed in a BLT studio and been fine. Found the storage space in that studio to be the best of all. Floor space was less, but with the large window, we didn't feel cramped at all.

Found the worst for a long trip was the OKW studio. Didn't like having no seating except the bed and the chairs near the table.

Hope this helps!

If you will all be awake at the same time, a studio is probably fine. DH and I prefer a 1 bedroom if it's for more than a couple of nights so that I can get up, make coffee, and sit out on the deck while he sleeps in.

my wife,daughter 19 and myself .
we all need space.
we need our private time especially for three weeks
my daughter needs her tv time:rotfl::rotfl:

The refurb wont make a huge difference to the studio experience, and well over half the resort is done already. I'd opt for the 2 real beds at OKW along with the extra space.

We are a family of 4 (myself, DW, DS 8 & DS 5). We almost always use a studio. We go as a family 3 times a year (Oct, Feb or Apr, and Summer) and DW and I go once alone. Therefore, point usage is high. We currently have 405 pts, but like the op mentioned pt values in April are higher. In order for us to go that often he have to stay in a studio. Believe me a 1 bdr is nicer, but we do manage. I think the hardest part is having to be quiet when the kids go to bed. If you can deal with that then it should be fine. For us it's either stay in a studio or don't go. Not going is never an option.
