Will we be able to eat without ADRs 12/26 thru 12/31?

I have not been able to get ressies anywhere during the above time period. We will be at EPCOT on 12/31 at MK one other day and at MGM another. The later 2 could be any day. What can we do? I keep calling, but I'm concerned we will not get to eat anywhere.:scared:

Considering how busy that week is, I would keep calling every day or even twice a day before you leave to see if anything opens up. Then I would check every day while there to see if there are any cancellations. But realistically, I would go with the assumption that you are going to be eating counter service meals. If you get a table service, great, but if not, I wouldn't let it ruin the trip. There are decent places to get counter service food.

Hey, there isn't anything wrong with eating counter service! There is some really good CS in the parks and hotels. Lots of people go and eat only that - or travel offsite for a table service if they want that.

If you are desperate for a few table service meals on property, try the obscure table service spots at some of the resorts (that aren't monorail ones).

You may not score one at the parks that week at this point, but keep trying and in the meantime check out the counter service options.

Counter Service is pretty good and you don't have to eat burgers and fries and pizza either unless you want it. Your best variety for CS is in Epcot. Resort food courts (especially the Values) have great selections.

If you want a TS meal though just keep calling, and calling, and calling. Not everyone is going to use their TS meals.

I would call every other hour is I were you. You never know someone may cancel. If not the CS locations are not bad at all and you will have more time to enjoy the park. Good luck and have a Very Merry Christmas!

If you end up with no ADRs and have to do lots of counter service, be aware that the lines will be outrageous during "normal" meal times. We walked past Cosmic Ray's at 11:00 one morning during Christmas week last year and the line was already out the door! You'd do much better off eating really early lunches and dinners and then having a snack or something later on.

For your MGM day why don't you check out the Yacht Club Galley? It'll give you a break from the park and it's close enough to go back and forth. Also you'll get a chance to check out the resort decorations.

As others have said, keep trying for anything that comes up, but don't fret having to eat counter service. A little searching will find you more than just the standard burgers & chicken fingers.

I haven't made that many ADR's for our trip either...My parents*(who are veteran: disney visitors) said as long as you willing to eat at off times...it shouldn't be a problem...And since I had my gastric bypass...I can pretty much eat whenever...I am flexible...and with kids..a snack goes a long way.

I would just remember to be flexible and relax...and in worst case situations...sometimes the waiting is worth it...:confused3

i would keep calling and also take any ADR they give you... attempt to get beach club/yacht club/boardwalk ADRs for when you're in either MGM or Epcot...

also, check out swan/dolphin restaurants (not sure how you make reservations for them, but someone has to know) if you're not on DDP...

Would you consider eating at restaurants at a resort or DTD? There are some great one there too. You can easily leave Epcot to go to one of the resort restaurants near it at the Boardwalk, YC or BC.

Are you looking to book the TS resturants only at dinner time? I just booked Coral Reef for lunch time at less than a week out. TS resturants are often available at lunch time. GFC is one you can usually walk in. And I walked into Yacht Club Galley for dinnertime a few months ago.

I'd keep calling back, but in the mean time plan on doing counter service meals. Check out some of the "different" places such as Columbia Harbor House so you don't end up with monotonous meals.

Check at guest services when you enter the park if you haven't found something yet, they will have easy access to any thing availale. Be flexible and consider eating at off hours, we like late lunch. For your MK or MGM day I would consider a resort restaurant, maybe Kona for your MK day and something on the Boardwalk for your MGM day. For Epcot on 12/31 I would not risk leaving the park to eat as you may not get back in if the park goes through some levels of closing. GR is on your left after SPE - check there for openings when you enter. I think Epcot has some great counter service choices anyway, we love Japan and China as well as the mexican counter service.

How many are in your party?

Check out the December cancellation ADR thread here and post a request there as well!

You have not mentioned if you're on the dining plan (seems likely). While you can skip using the TS credits, let's just say that isn't the best value for use of the plan.

If you don't think you will get into any TS restaurants, you may want to remove the dining plan from your reservation (if you can).

I think it's likely that you will not get any ADRs in the parks you mentioned, so you may want to try resorts near the parks, and booking TS for breakfast or lunch.

Thank you all for your suggestions and encouraging words. We are a party of 4 and do not care when we eat. If we eat a nice lunch and just do cs for dinner or snack that's fine. I just do not like living on burgers and fries. If I can get something somewhat healthy somewhere (just not fried) that will be fine. I was under the impression that you cannot leave the parks during that week because you won't be able to get back in (due to too many people that they close the parks). I read somewhere last year even EPCOT closed. I was not aware that Japan, China and Mexico had cs either. So that is a good option. Will save us some $$$ as we are not on the ddp. We own timeshare in the area so don't have that option. I definitely will keep calling and more times a day.
