Will USAirways ever become a participating airline?

Do you think this is ever likely to happen? Anybody out there in the know about these things?

I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for it to happen. US Airways has a hard time running their airline so I don't know how high a priority becoming a participating airline for bag checks is.

Not to mention that baggage is a weak spot of them. This would just give them another "excuse" on why they can't get you and your luggage to the same spot at the same time! :rotfl2:

US Airways lost our luggage.

LOL, they have a massive merger to worry about without adding this.

Yeah, but their management thought the good thing to do to assist with the "problems" with the America West merger would be to buy yet ANOTHER airline. (Thank goodness he got run out of Atlanta with his ideas!)

We will be flying in on USAirways (I know, I know, but we are a family of 5 so I have to grab the best price I can!) and plan on putting DME luggage tags on our baggage so we can just climb aboard the bus and let Disney get our bags from US Airways.
Is this a mistake? Should we take the time to pull our own bags and drag them on the bus?

(I know that I can do airline check-in for the bags at the resort on the way home since USAir is not "participating" in that. I'm just asking about the coming IN to MCO part.)

Thanks
Jill

I would definitely use the yellow tags -- especially because of US Airways' reputation for substandard luggage handling.

Let's suppose it takes US Airways 45 minutes to unload the bags at MCO. If you use Magical Express as designed, you'll already be on the motorcoach to your resort. If you choose not to use the yellow tags, you'll have to go to baggage claim and wait, and wait, and wait, and wait, and wait...

Let's suppose your bags arrive on a later flight. If you use Magical Express as designed, your bags will arrive in your room a few hours later than if the airline had put your bags on the right flight. If you choose not to use the yellow tags, you'll have to wait until all bags from your flight have been unloaded; and then you'll have to wait to fill out a report with your airline's baggage office.

Let's suppose US Airways handles your bags perfectly. If you use Magical Express as designed, you'll still enjoy all the benefits of bypassing baggage claim, getting on the first motorcoach to your resort, and not having to drag your bags through the airport and through your resort.

Thanks for the insight - I wasn't thinking of it that way! I had figured doing DME would complicate getting my luggage from US Air...but you are right - let Disney deal with it!
Jill
Thanks!
