Will this work?

I'm planning a 10 day trip for June 2016. Can I purchase a 7 day park ticket with the water park and hopper options and use the water park options for the three days that we won't be going to the four main parks?

If you buy the 7 day park hopper with water park option you can visit any of the 6 parks for 7 days. You do not have to visit consecutively but if you go to a water park and no where else, you are still redeeming an entire day on your ticket.

Sorry that is incorrect.

The OP will have 7 Theme Park "days" and, entirely independent of the Theme Parks, will be 7 visits to the Water Parks (or other options.)

If you have a theme park and more option ticket, you are redeeming a day no matter what park you are in. They are not seperate visits. Ie. If you have a 7 day ticket and you go to the TL, you will then have 6 days left on your ticket wether or not to visit any of the main parks. You don't get 7 days to the 4 main parks and 7 visits to the WPs. It's all tied into the same ticket.

You are absolutely incorrect.

The major park days and minor park entries are completely separate. The entitlements must be used within 14 days of the first use, but the minor park entrances are not tied to the major park days.

If you have a 7 day ticket with water parks and more, you have 7 days of theme park admission and 7 days of water park admissions (essentially 14 admissions).

WRONG.

7 day park park hopper ticket means you may go to any of the four major parks (MK Epcot DHS AK) on 7 different days and you may hop from park to park on the same day.

If you add the Water Park and More option it will add same "days" aka 7 WPM tickets. Each TIME you go to one of those parks you would remove an entry. (entries not days) So if you do both water parks on one day, it will take off 2 entries.

If you go to Blizzard Beach then MK, you will lose one WPM entry and one Theme Park day.

If you limit yourself to ONE park per day it could actually mean a "park" every day for 14 days since you have 7 Theme Park days and 7 WPM entries. (and they all expire 14 days from the first day used.

OP, what you are trying to do you can absolutely do. And a PS - if ROBO says you can do it, you can.

This is the best description of how it works:
This post includes the assumption you have a ten day MYW ticket with both the Park Hopper and Water Park Fun and More (WPF&M) options.

Hopefully this will make it a little clearer. In effect you have two tickets with different priveleges on one card. Everything expires 14 days after first use unless you have the no-expire (NE) option. If you have the NE option all the entitlements are good until they are used up. Even if you use up all your major park days, the WPF&M entries remain valid until used. (Note you do not have to use the days consecutively.)

You have ten days of access to the four major parks (AK, DHS, EC, MK), and may visit more than one major park on a single day without any extra charges. Without the Park Hopper option you can only go to one major park per day.

You have ten entries to the minor parks (BB, DQ, OT, TL, WWS). These may or may not be used on the same days as you go to the major parks. However, if you went to TL in the morning, Oak Trail in the afternoon, and Disney Quest in the evening of one day you would have used three of the ten entries. (Note that leaving and returning to the same minor park on the same day does not use an extra entry.)

If you go to minor parks only on one day and do not go to a major park you do not use up one of your major park days.

If you were to go to a Water Park in the morning and then one of the major parks for the remainder of the day you would have used one minor park entry and one day of major park entry.

Note that with the MYW ticket unless you have the hopper option you can only go to one major park per day. Unless you have the WPF&M option you cannot go to a minor park without upgrading or purchasing a separate ticket.

Thank You all so much! It did answer my question! I've always bought tickets for the whole time that we would be visiting. This time we are thinking of going a little longer than we normally would, but we would like to enjoy the resort and take it a little easier some of the days and not go to a major park, just maybe a water park.

Another thing to keep in mind is that if you decide that you DO want to go into a theme park after you have used all seven Theme Park days on your ticket, you can easily add 1, 2, or 3 more Theme Park days to your ticket for just $10 per day. Yes. $10 is all it costs, per day.

And, that upgrade can be done in a matter of minutes at any ticket booth or Guest Relations at WDW.

(All prices, plus tax.)
