Next year, five of us (all adults ) will be going to Disney. Three will stay in one room and two in another. Lets say that the three in one room get the dining plan and the two in the other room don't get it (we'll make separate reservations). If we all go to dinner together, could we use our three TS credits for that meal and share among all five. On the dining plan, there is always much more than we can each eat on our own (one of the three is a 10 year old). Of course, I know this would not work at buffets. At buffets, could we "treat" the other two people and pay for them using our dining plan credits (Pay for five adult TS even though our room key shows only 3 adults)?

I hope this makes sense. Thanks.

technically you are NOT allowed to do what you are asking at buffets.

If your card says 3A, then you can only pay for 3A.

As far as at a regular TS, who knows. One server may let you, and another may not.

We were on the dining plan and never tried to do what you are wanting to do. We did, however, dine next a party in Canada (at EPCOT) and next to a party at Tony's Town Square (in the MK) and heard them ask your same question. They were told that there was no way they could share the DDP. Sorry, Lisa

I believe that you can share food (i.e. order 3 apps, and share them among 5 people at the table), but cannot share credits (use 5 TS when there are only 3 people on the plan).

Best Wishes!

You can share food - DH and I do this to be able to go to go credit places and not have to pay OOP.

We have also been able to use more credits at one meal. . . We treated my il-laws one day. Not sure if it has changed, but we were able to. As long as you still have credits, I do not think they care. When your credits run out, they run out. Makes sense too - Disney is giving you a certain amount of meals, they should not care who eats them - they are getting paid no matter what.

See-I don't think that is what Disney is thinking. I think they assume some people won't be able to actually use all thier credits so they know they will not actually serve some of those meals and then Disney saves money. I know the meals are technically paid for but to Disney it is only to cover the actual person on the DDP and not anyone else. I hope that made sense?? :flower1:

That's correct. All packages like this are priced based on an assumption that some of the credits will remain unused. While Disney won't begrudge a customer using all their credits, they do have rules against folks using credits for others. The plan is purchased for specific individuals, listed on the reservation. You can always share food of your own plate with anyone you wish. What you cannot do is share the Dining Plan itself, by effectively paying for the meals of someone not on the plan with your own credits.

This is one of those topics that the moderators prefer folks contact Disney Dining directly if they need more information.

Thats for sure, but at places that are **not** AYCE, there is surely nothing wrong with a little sharing. ( it really would be nice, though, if I could use a few credits to treat a guest, and pay oop for a meal later, but thats the rules :thumbsup2

We're having a discussion in another thread about something related -- someone works at a deli counter and is dealing with customers who expect free napkins and paper plates and such when they pick-up their platters, feeling that since they paid so much they are entitled to more. One thing I mentioned in that thread is that that kind of behavior could be kept in check by posting special pricing at the deli counter "for folks buying platters" (maybe 2% - 3% off, just a pittance) for napkins and paper plates and such. People would tend to abuse less if there was an explicit cost associated with what they were doing -- faced with a price list, they'd better understand that they're not supposed to get that stuff for free. Maybe the Dining Plan could use the same idea: Offer one extra TS credit for each Dining Plan of at least five nights and two extra TS credits for ten nights. These extras can be used to treat other guests at your table who aren't on the Dining Plan. Sharing credits. And when you run out of Sharing credits, you cannot share credits anymore. The prices would probably need to go up a little to reflect that, but not much (given that relatively few people would actually have use for that special credit), but might be worth it.

My goodness! Talking about cheating. The DDP is already such a deal. It was not designed for this at all.
