Whenever heading to our ADR's we always allow 1 hour from the time we leave our hotel room. This seems to work well regardless of whether you are using Disney transportation or a rental car.
We have been caught in traffic jams due to wrecks, confusion due to trying to read resort maps and figure out just where the restaurant is supposed to be, the "oops I forgot my wallet/purse in the room", etc...
If you give yourself 1 hour to get somewhere you always seem to arrive on time. If everything goes perfect and we are a half hour early, then we just have a look around at the resort or check out the gift shop. Most times if you arrive early, you will get seated sooner. If you arrive late, you might not be seated at all!
