Will this trip ever get off the ground? - Jan 2012 PTR - TOMORROW - 1/5!!!

Can't wait to see the pictures you took in Boston!

Where's the match??

We decided to take a 2 bedroom place in Wyndham Bonnet Creek. Everyone seems to love it on here and it's surrounded on three sides by Disney property. My friend is happy to use her timeshare week up, because it was going to expire. And I get to go to Disney!

So we are booked to stay the week of October 15th.

Now to figure out whether to fly down on Friday or stay Sunday and arrange everyone else and a rental car!

I'm pretty sure I'm going to be booking us some ADRs. One for the Crystal Palace for breakfast to get in early again and take photos. I'm not sure pass that. I'm going to preorder the PP CD again so we can all have our photos from the trip whether we stick together or split up since the resort also has a semi-reliable shuttle system.

I'm also going to order an annual pass, because I really want to take my cousin in Feb. She's never been and always wanted to go, so it will be a nice little birthday/graduation from college gift to her. She has worked so hard to get where she is and I'm so proud of her, she deserves some time to act like a kid even though she'll be 22.

Now I can spend more time reading everyone's trips and not getting jealous! It was tough to read everyone's plans and not be sure if I was going or not.

Boston photos to come as soon as BF puts them on the computer for me!

 for being booked!! I know that seems to make it that much more real. I mean... I had a feeling we would go in December but once we booked... it became more real.

October though? Does that mean no December for you? :sad2: I was hoping that we would be there the same time. :goodvibes

No I'm still considering a weekend trip in December. I really want to see the lights. I  Christmas twinkly lights. Our trip tickers are exactly two months off from each other!

exactly 2 months from each other... how cool. :thumbsup2 I hope you get to go back for a weekend trip in December! I think Christmas lights in WDW will be amazing to see.

Scary thought. I can book ADRs this week. It's already up to October 10th and we'll be there starting the 15th. Anything you think I should make reservations for? In other words is there any food on Disney property would you pay out of pocket for?

Glad to hear you are officially booked! It's so exciting! My sisters and I would say definitely say eat at 'Ohana. We ate there twice on this trip because they LOVED it. Everything else was good, but I am not sure if I would go out of my way to eat anyplace else. Maybe Coral Reef because the food was good, and Sci-fi because of the atmosphere. The food at Sci fi was decent but it's not much more expensive than getting a burger and fries from a counter service and the atmosphere is so much cooler!

I've never gone to Ohana before, maybe that and Crystal Palace would be two good places to spend money on Disney meals. Especially if we have it timed right for the fireworks at MK and early entry into MK. Now if flights would go a bit down in price so I could book I'd be happy.

Does anyone know if you order an annual pass online, can you use the benefits of buying an annual pass before you exchange the piece of paper for an actual pass?

Also, I know I'm going to have to go to WPE in DTD, I haven't been able to stop dreaming of the bacon wrapped meatloaf. So much for trying to lose weight for my sisters' wedding next year.

Ugh! I'm so annoyed with my friend from KY. He's known we were planning this trip like 6 months ago, he agreed to it, I told him I would make it work financially, we book the time share, and now he's like "oh I don't know how many hours of vacation I have". Turns out with all the days off he's taken or has planned plus FL it would leave him with 10 hours of vacation time left for the year.

Yeah, you've only known about this for 6 months and you took a day off, in case your old roommate and her husband's flight got delayed because you had to pick them up??!!??

I only found this all out because Air Tran had this awesome deal from Lexington to MCO one way $90 including the taxes. I was telling him to buy it since it was non-stop and after work for him. So now he is crunching the numbers and seeing if he can even use the vacation time for FL.

Seriously! If you checked this beforehand, we could have knocked the number down for people going and MAYBE got DVC or we could have stayed on property since you were the only one concerned on the financial aspects of it.

Okay Rant Over! Thanks for listening!

I agree- 'Ohana is great, that would be one I'd splurge for!

Sorry to hear about the drama with your friend's vacation time! It's frustrating when you are trying to make a trip work for everyone. I'm sure you'll work it all out!

how frustrating!

So here's the text I got from KY this morning:

"Sorry I didn't call u back last night. I'll probly talk to u later today. And I'm also sorry about the whole trip thing, if it turns out I'm not able to go I hope it still turns out to be a good trip for everyone. I really mismanaged my vac, while u were bending over backwards to help me afford it. I feel awful."

I am so sorry. It is so hard to book around other people. My December trip, the in-laws were suppose to meet us down there. I booked and then they decided probably not. I think there is still a chance that they will change their minds. It is very frustrating. For me, I know I can change my dates and such for quite a while. Are you able to do this? I know you are using points...so once you book are you locked in?

Well here's the thing. I had been trying to two weeks to get ahold of everyone to find out if they still wanted to go forward with the trip and if I could expand the search area since its not my time share. I finally got ahold of my friend who's time share it is and KY and they both sounded up for it. We got a match on Friday, I extended the deadline until Saturday when I accepted it, and they let me know that I had up to Sunday to cancel it with no penalty.

But now we are past Sunday. Sometimes I wish I just kept holding the reservation renewing the hold every day until I could get an A-OK from everyone, but who knows how long that could have taken! I don't think changing the dates or anything would do any good. Wanna join us in Oct? They will be flying out of Seattle. Once I find out when the fly out and remind them that the room is booked. :headache:

Go in October? I so want to.. but December would be just around the corner. When I really need to go (and yes, I use the word NEED :rotfl:) is some time in May or June. It has been 7 months and I am so ready to go back. However, May is my dd's wedding and June is my other dd's surgery. July and August I am sure dd will be still recovering. Then comes the fall and while I would LOVE to go sooner than December... going in even September puts December just too close. So... I have to wait till December. :sad2:

So this weekend my cousin and aunt visited. They just left to go home and they came yesterday, so basically I got almost 24 hours with them. This is my cousin I want to go to Disney with. I asked her mom, who thought she would love it. She even picked up my Unofficial Guide and started reading it.

So I'm going to surprise her with a trip in January 2012 before her final semester in college as a birthday/graduation gift. I'm trying to figure out how many days I can afford for both of us, I'll have my annual pass then. I'll have to get her ticket, a hotel for us, and airfare.

My big question is Pop or POFQ?

As far as the trip in October, my friend in FL is down for staying the whole week and he wants to do whatever I want to do. My friend in Washington, who's timeshare it is, is very hard to get ahold of. And I'm pretty sure KY isn't going. But four people is still enough to have fun!

I would say that Pop would be good in January. I have not stayed at POFQ... but I would say that would be nice too...but cost more. For the cost though, and for a shorter trip I would pick Pop.

And for October... Yes, 4 people will be enough for you to have a ton of fun! :thumbsup2

Hmmm I think it might be Pop, just cause its just the two of us and with the rooms being cheaper (unless some discount makes a mod cheaper) I'll be able to book us there for longer.

So my list to dos:

Oct Trip
  • Buy Annual Pass before August - COMPLETE
  • Book Flight - COMPLETE
  • Figure out MNSSHP
  • Get costume
  • Save up money for Jan Trip
  • Dining Reservations - COMPLETE

Jan Trip

  • Flights - COMPLETE
  • Ticket for cousin - COMPLETE
  • Figure out how to surprise her
