We have ADR for 1900 park fare for 8:00 pm for my DD's Birthday, but would really like to see Spectromagic at 9. This is the only day we would be able to see the show!

Do you think if we went at 7 pm they would take us?

Thanks!

Maybe, maybe not. Mostly just depends on how busy it is. Since 7 is prime dinner time, my guess is the restaurant will be full and busy. You could try going at 7, but it's totally up to chance as to whether you will get seated before 8 or not.

My last trip, it was a low crowd time. We ended up at almost all our ADR's somewhat early and were seated early most of the time.
One night we had a 9:15 ADR at Narcoossee's and arrived at 8:30. We weren't seated until 9:45!

So if you want to risk having to sit around for an hour, then you could try.

I think you should have some luck. As PP said, it's up to chance, but I think waiting 90 minutes as PP did is not of the "norm" at all!

I would try to change the time...Keep checking the website for opennings...People do cancel and sometimes tables open for other reasons...So keep checking...Can even call the day of...Would be a shame to show up by 7 then have to wait for over an hour but that is very possible.

You can't know until you get there because it's going to depend entirely on how busy it is on that particular night.

Most of the time, I've had great luck with being seated early or on time, but I can think of a couple times where we weren't seated until well after our ADR time, even in low season. Some times we waited so long after the scheduled time that we've given up and gone somewhere else. You really can't count on being seated early, especially for a character meal. I would try to change your reservation if at all possible. If you can't, then there's no harm in trying to get there early. But prepare for the worst while hoping for the best.

We had ressies this past trip at 6:45 and were not seated until 7:15 pm. They were crazy busy around that time. And it was a Monday night. Go figure.

It just depends on how busy they are... We've arrived early for an ADR a few times and I can only think of twice when we were seated early, but in both cases it was immediately, and ~30 minutes ahead of our time. One of these was the Cali grill on the day before New Years (and they were packed!) We had the opposite experience at Coral Reef on a weekday in January. Got there ~20 minutesearly, and had to wait 20 minutes past our time, and it wasn't very busy at all. So it really is up to chance.

I just want to say that 1 hour is not what I would consider a "little early". As others said, if it is not busy that is one thing but please be respectful of other guests that do have a 7-8pm ressie. You don't want them to have to sit down late because you wanted to eat an hour early. I'm sure you wouldn't be happy if you had to wait 45 mins because a few other parties were seated an hour before their reservation times. Keep trying to get an earlier ressie if that is when you want to eat. Good luck.

Do you have interest in meeting the characters at your dinner? If yes, then you need to budget at least an hour for dining. This doesn't include running down you waiter for your check, taking your group photo, etc. This meal is not cheap, I don't think I would try rush it. If Spectro is your priority have a hotd dog at Casey's and scope out a good spot for the parade.

If Spectro is something you have to see and that is the only night you can see it, IMO, try to get an earlier ADR. Character buffets could take up to an hour and a half. If you can't make an ADR for earlier as it is now, the odds of you just showing up and being taken early are slim and none.

If you can't get an earlier ADR, and Spectro is a must see, you might have to consider changing your dining plans all together.

It's been my experience that resturants will not even let you check in more than about 15 min before your scheduled ADR. If Spectro is something you really want to see then either try changing your time or try the resturant on a different night or maybe for lunch? If Spectro is at 9 you really want to be in a good spot at least 20-30 min before the parade even starts and as the previous poster mentioned Character meals take alot of time.
As for changing the times, we have had some success calling once we are at WDW and seeing what's available.

Good luck!

Bev

I would say it is possible, but not likely. Anything is possible on any given day. But if they had availablity at 7 PM, you could make a 7 PM ADR. They are booked at this point.
I would just keep trying, but I certainly would not expect to be seated early.
