Will they sign a vodka bottle?...

Strange question I know!

To give some context my DBF collects Absolut Vodka bottles and has over 50 designs. I know he would LOVE to have one signed my the gang - so do you think they would sign an EMPTY Absolut vodka bottle?

I would obviously follow the usual procedure of putting it in bag with sharpies and giving to guest services.

Do we really think the actual "character" employee is the one doing the signing.

If you Disney wouldn't you just have the dishwasher sign them?

I think some people forget it's a human dressed in a costume. I have never understood the rationale behind waiting in line for hours to get a picture with some guy in a costume, but people do it every day.

I'm perfectly happy for the dishwasher to sign the bottle, if he can copy Mickey's signature! In fact I would sign it myself if I could, but sadly I can't.

So even though it is all done behind the scenes with guest services, (no one will ever see 'Mickey'/the dishwasher signing it), is it still going to be a no you think?

For kids who believe the characters are real, I definitely understand wanting the photos, and have stood in lines to get them with my kids. I can even understand wanting an autograph as long as the kid witnesses the signing.

But getting an autograph from a "character" by leaving it, and then picking it up later, I don't get that, there is no experience or memory of meeting the character.

Of course as i pointed out they probably have anyone back there writing "Cinderella" on pillow cases, no reason to pay the model to do that.

And even if it is is "Cinderella" writing it adults get them knowing full well its actually Sarah from Cleveland!!

I'm thinking they would still say no since they wouldn't want a vodka bottle out there with Mickey's signature on it. I'm wondering if you can buy clear, plastic labels, have the character sign those, then transfer them onto the bottle?

Waking up to money from the tooth fairy is wonderful, even though you don't get to meet the tooth fairy. Imagination is a HUGE part of growing up.

Thanks that's a great idea!! :-)

I think I will just go with those labels as then we can use them for whatever we want anyway. Thank you!

Kids ok, but I have seen lots of adults standing in line minus kids. Not my idea of a fun vacation. I guess im not a kid at heart.

Im with you on that one

I would say that this is an absolute no, whoever is actually doing the signatures.

and just because I am not going to stand in line to meet Elsa or Cinderella does not mean that I give a darn whether or not some other adult might want to do it.

Yet you seam to give a darn what other adults post on message boards. We all have opinions and they are all welcome, nothing hateful was posted...

I actually think this is a fun idea; except have your favorite bartender sign the bottle if DCL allows this. I love sitting in the bars or the Cove when there is next to nobody there so I can talk with the Disney Cast Members. There are some really fun CM to talk to. And we have had some really great CM's giving presentations for some of the bar themed classes that are given (for an additional fee) during the cruise. Have them put their signature with DCL with the bar name, or hidden Mickey type drawing, or write out which ship it is being signed on with which bar.

What a BRILLIANT idea :thumbsup2

I would guess no one on the boards can give you an absolutely accurate answer...even if a DISer has had a vodka bottle refused for signatures by a CM, it doesn't mean that another CM on another ship will say no...or yes....

Well, to get around it...could you remove the Absolut writing from the bottle and just have them a blank bottle to sign? Im sure there are ways to transfer off the label and then put it back on after it is signed. Just remember to keep a "placeholder" so they do not sign where the label would go back on...or order a vinyl decal to place back on the bottle. :) I'm all about the work-around. Don't compromise someone's job or the law/rules...but get what you want :)
