will they seat incomplete parties?

just wondering. if we have a say 5pm adr for sci fi and husband and son are still waiting to ride say rockin roller coaster, can my daughter and I go and get seated then wait for husband and son. I mean not by alot like maybe 15 minutes at the most. this is just hypethical in case they are still riding something, I wanted to see if my daughter and I can proceed to our adr and get seated then wait for them.

It has been our experience that they will ask you when you check in if all of your party is there. If you say no, they won't check you in until they have arrived.

I have been allowed to check in while my party was incomplete but they would not seat us unless everyone was present.

just got back and tried to check in at HVD at DHS...a couple were missing from our party by only a couple of minutes and they wouldnt even let me check in until all had arrived.

UGH, we had such the incident at Ohana last year with this. My friend from Orlando meets us here for dinner when we come down and was caught in traffic.
We were 20 mins early to the adr, they wouldn't check us in and then proceeded to tell us if the rest of the party wasn't there by our adr we would be turned away and they wouldn't honor the adr.

She made it with 1 min to spare however cutting that close they had already cancled out adr and we had to really fight to get seated. Wasn't pretty.

Yes, some restaurants will not even check you in until the full party is there and definitely will not seat you. I haven't experienced this type of situation though and I would have been pretty irritated to say the least, they will generally hold the reservation past the time by at least 15 minutes just because of transportation issues.

To the OP, remember you are at a theme park and while you might be responsible enough to know that they are literally on the way, many people aren't that responsible and would hold up tables for half an hour or more waiting for people to join them.

2) It is a big waste of revenue to seat incomplete parties.
3) They don't know how long it will take the table to order their food.
4) If this were to happen several times a day, that is a lot of waiting time.

They do ask if your party is present. Boma let me sit once when my friends were stuck on a bus from DTD. But I was on the phone with them and relaying that they were stuck on a bus. I don't know if they will let you do this so part of the party can get some more rides in. I have been to other restaurants that wouldn't seat you or even let you check in until everyone was present.

Prior to this trip, we weren't allowed to be seated until our whole party was present (well, in our *one* attempt to do so at Mama Melrose!). However, in August, I was separated from DH twice, and both times was offered to be seated before he arrived. The first time was for dinner at H&V. DD and I were at DHS while DH & DS went to Disneyquest. DD & I arrived at H&V on time - no sign of DH/DS. I waited until 5 minutes past our reservation time and started to get worried (it was the Fantasmic Package and I didn't wnat our reservation cancelled on us!). I asked at the podium what we should do, and they offered to let us check in, get seated and started and DH/DS could catch up with us when they arrived. I decided against this as DH is not always sensible and I had visions of him arriving at H&V and not thinking to ask at the podium if we were already seated - he'd be more likely to just wait and wait and wait for us!

So we just checked in and waited. Fortunately they turned up 5 minutes after that.

The second time, the kids and I were waiting at Tusker House for lunch. DH had gone off to get FPs. It started to POUR with rain, so I decided to try to get us checked in. They offered to seat us immediately without DH. Fortunately I turned around & there he was, but we would have gone in without him that time!

I was able to check in and be seated at Jiko while my daughter was stuck on ME from the airport. Of course, it was 9 PM, and if they hadn't seated me, the restaurant might have closed! (And it wasn't full.)

I would not count on it, though.

At some less popular and crowded restaurants, maybe, but very unlikely at Sci-Fi.

Thankfully, they will usually not seat you until all in your party are present.

Helps to ensure tables are turned correctly and other are seated close to their correct ADR time.

Glad they usually stay firm with this, or we would see lots of parties sitting in restaurants, while some of their group was enjoynig one more ride.

You just have to stop getting in any attraction lines and head to the restuarant in plenty of time and give up that one last ride before the meal.

Remeber, that walk on ride could break down and the ride can be a lot longer than you planned.

Sci Fi is very strict they wouldn't seat my family when I was in the restroom even though I had been there for check in. They gave away our table and we had to wait another 5 mins for the next table.

When I was checking into AKL a few weeks ago they did seat my DH while I was still at the check in desk (waiting behind people who had massive problems with room location at 9:30 at night).
