We are going with a party of 3 No Dining Plan. My DD and Her Boyfriend are also going at the same time and have the DP. We have some reservations together, some not. If my DD wants to join us and BF stays back, is it a problem if she eats with us (we do have reservations together) and uses her DP and we pay for our meals? Can the separate the checks like that?

The one time we did the dining plan there were several meals where my DS didn't like anything on the kids menu so we ordered him what he wanted off the adult menu. My DH and I used our DP credits but we paid out of pocket for our son's meal. I was never a problem.

You can split checks. Just let them know how many Dinning Plan credits you are using and for what (so use it for the most expensive meal even if it isn't hers) and then the cash value of everything else will be presented.

I am concerned about her BF. This is his first time going. We are a commando family with early ADR's. I don't know if he can get up. She may be spending a lot of meals with us. IF they have an ADR and she decides to eat with us, and they "miss" their ADR, will he get charged $10 for his no show or do they charge a whole meal. I'm worried they won't cancel in time.

Great Tip! Thank you!

Another thought, if he misses too many meals, is she able to use her extra credits for a meal or two for us when she eats with us? I don't want the credits to go to waste if he can't get up!

Can you clarify what you mean with the ADR situation. Just throwing out random numbers but do you have 2 sets of ADRs meaning like 3 for you/hubby/other kid and 2 for her/bf at the same time and place? If she is using her ADR to eat with you guys then no one will get a no show fee. However if you made all your reservations for 4 just in case he doesn't get up then the other ADR would be charge 20 per a now show since 0 people showed up for that one.

thank you! Some ADR's, I have made for 5 people. Some, I have made for 4. Some i have made for 3 and then 2. So they are different depending on the ADR. So what i am gathering is if they miss completely their ADR for 2 and she joins us at our ADR for 3 (I figure they could fit in one more in our reservation for 3 at a table for 4), then they could get charged the $10 per person for missing their ADR completely.

Are the ADRs at the same place every time or did you mkae them at different places? Also don't 100% bet on a 3 top working for 4 and being able to squeeze. Most places you'll have no problem but some places (especially character meals) do have 3 top tables.

I made them all at the same places when we go together. Some times i could get a table for 5 or i wasn't sure who was all going to be going so i did the 3 and 2 sometimes and grabbed what i could get. Most actually are for 3 and 2.

OK if they are for the same place and time then always have her check in for her reservation. The biggest issue will be that since you split there is no guarantee you will be able to sit together. I would call Disney dinning or check online and see if you can get a table for 5 for all reservations. If he does not show up for anything then you just say oh we are actually 4 and no one gets charged. It doesn't matter if you are paying differently as that gets handled at the restaurant.

Yes your daughter can use any unused dinning credits. However remember dinning credits are not per a meal per a day but rather are by length of stay and can be used whenever. So say he missed breakfast but you have a sit down lunch that they were going ot pay out of pocket for. He can now use those credits there or if he misses a QS meal he could use it later for a snack meal on his own or whatever.

Worse case scenerio, i would just eat with her at her table for 2 and the 2 in my party can just eat together at the of 3. That way she won't have to sit by herself. I would think that would work.

That is great information to have! I was so worried with her getting the plan and him not eating enough table service credits to make it worth it. She wants a lot of sit downs. I doubt he will make the early ones. I was wondering if i could use his credit for my table service meal she eats with us that he is not there. I would just pay for OOP quick service later if he wanted something.

Yes you can. As long as one person who is eating has the dinning plan on their account they can use it for as many or as little meals as they would like. You would just tell them you are using 2 adult credits and she puts in her pin.

As long as someone shows up for each reservation you will not be charged.

It is no problem to have them split the check if you are paying separately because she has DP. A few years ago, we went to WDW with another couple. They had DP, we didn't. We had no issues at any of our meals. We just paid separately. If it turns out, BF misses a bunch of meals and she wants to pay with extra credits, she can just use her card and credits to pay for whatever meals she wants.

Do you think it would be worth it to call all our ADR restaurants and ask them if our 3 and 2 reservations can be for 5 together. I know some may not be able to accommodate but i thought it maybe better to try now rather than at the restaurant on the day of. We leave in about 20 days.

If they don't want any alone time, yes, try to get them to change to a 5 top. That way it's not going to matter if he or even she shows up. As long as one person shows, it's all good. You may have problems getting them changed. I've found even numbers are easier to book than odd and often had to book a table for 4 for 3 of us.

You can check online to see if a reservation for 5 or 6 is available and book it. If it is close to the time of your current reservation you will be asked if you want to cancel the original reservation before you can book the new one. After booking your new reservations be sure to cancel any that you or your daughter no longer need. Make the reservations for at least 5 since that's how many might show up and as long as at least one person shows up for the ADR you will not be charged for the missing diners.

You can also call the dining reservation line, but they see the same availability that is online. They cannot "combine" reservations unless a larger 5 or 6 top table is available which is what you would also be checking for if you do it online. You cannot call the restaurants directly.
