Will there ever be another DCL Panama Canal sailing?

That is - the clocks get set back an hour at a time, so you're "gaining" an hour every time they do that. It happens about 4 times on a PC cruise (depending on if you're cruising over the change from daylight savings time or not).
Fewer time changes for the WBPC sailing out of Galveston, as opposed to the sailing out of one of the Florida ports, since Galveston is in the Central time zone (and San Diego is in the Pacific time zone, of course). Right now (so daylight savings time in the US states that observe it), Galveston, Cozumel, Cartagena, and Panama are all on the same time. Should also be the case for an early April sailing. That would mean only a two hour difference over the course of the cruise, with both time changes coming after the canal transit as the ship sails along the Pacific coast.

I'm glad there's another Panama offering -- my husband has been super interested in this itinerary! Hopefully we can book an oceanview room!

In 2023, looks like Magic went WB and returned EB about 6 weeks later. Maybe similar in 2026?

When was the last WB PC DCL sailing? I want to find pricing reports to compare to the April 5, 2025 sailing sample prices now showing on the DCL web site.
You meant 2026, right? I'm looking at doing that one as well. Starting out on Easter Monday makes it easier for us to get to Galveston since we're off the Friday prior

I'm struggling to decide between verandah or Oceanview for this sailing. I'd rather save the money and I feel like we can go to the top deck to get better views, but we haven't tried Oceanview before so I worry about not liking it during such a long cruise.

Besides going through the canal, do you see much coastline during sea days?

I didn't do the Panama Canal yet, really tempted to book this one.

But in my opinion, I rather spend money on experiences than on a room. I did have an Oceanview for my WBTA, but an inside stateroom for my Alaska cruise. Everyone says "you need a verandah for an Alaska cruise!". Yeah, couldn't afford that on either of those cruises.

I didn't miss having a verandah. Deck 4 or the top deck were good enough for me to watch the scenery go by.
Yes, I would probably enjoy having a private verandah. However, it would probably only marginally improve my cruise experience. I do not believe it would improve my cruise in a major way. I do not have the patience to sit on a verandah for hours on end, so public spaces work well enough for me.

Other benefit of not having a verandah and spending time there: You will spend less time in your room. Which could result in unexpectedly running into characters while roaming the ship, or stumbling across an activity you might have overlooked.

I was listening to the "DCL Dude" podcast today and there's a theory that this sailing will be the grand send-off for the Magic before she is retired.

I hope that's not the case.
That thought had definitely crossed my mind too since there are no sailings to book on the Magic once she arrives in SD.....I truly hope this is not the case though.

I would save the money. Half the fun of the PC is being surrounded by all of the excited people up on deck. We mainly sail ocean view, with 2 inside and 2 veranda cruises. We were lucky and had one of the huge extended verandas off of the back of the Dream for our Mediterranean cruise last summer. We are booking in inside. Our first PC Cruise was oceanview and then we booked inside for the infamous 2020 WBPC cruise. We upgraded at the port to an oceanview in case the worst happened. Our last was connecting oceanview because we had some discounts due to cancellation of cruises booked on the Wish before she sailed. We never really spend time in our room, and love the Magic. She was our first and started our addiction. Either way, you will love it.

Not enough to remember 10 days years later.

I had a Deck 1 oceanview with the two small portholes.

On a S Caribbean cruise last year, we had a Deck 2 Forward cabin. I’d book it for another cruise, anywhere. My other favorite cabin is on the Dream/ Fantasy - a Cat 8A oceanview (but more expensive - think verandah pricing).

Here’s the view from Cabin 2022 in Curacao. I must have given up on taking standard room photos a while ago.

If you enjoy sitting on a balcony, taking in the ocean, PC itineraries afford you lots of time to utilize it. I have yet to sit still long enough on a cruise to justify the expense. I’d rather get out in the Deck 4 Promenade. I’m happy to be where people are.

And I like excursions. The savings on the cruise fare can cover the cost. But that’s not how everyone travels.

Being up deck is definitely where to be on Canal Day! A good opportunity to see your cheeky cruise friends, as @Karin1984 mentioned.

But the sailing(s) after that would be the Summer season so that could be why it hasn't been announced.
Exactly! My hope is that Disney has some new surprise itineraries for the Magic. They often cut off booking dates at different times for the ships to line up with summer season and unique itineraries like transatlantic. That way they can charge more. 🤣

This is us. We got upgraded to a verandah once from an Inside GTY and it was beautiful. But we didn't really utilize it other than to go out once in awhile and be amazed because it was huge (see profile pic, aft on the Wish). All it did was confirm that we aren't in our room enough for it to be "worth it" to us.

Thanks. Yeah, we're not in the verandah a lot--the only reason we normally book it is that the 7A (obstructed verandah) is usually much closer in price to the Oceanview rooms on Caribbean and European sailings, which is what we've done, but that's not the case on this PC cruise. DH usually goes out there when we first arrive in a port just to look, and then we might have one breakfast out there during a sailing. But we go to the trivia and other entertainment a lot, and when in port we are always out doing an excursion (sometimes we even squeeze in two), so I think we don't need it.

We do need Oceanview at least--DH has to have sunlight in the morning--but we'll definitely save money on the price difference to the verandahs. I'm excited to finally do a PC cruise, even though it'll be through the new locks.

I don't think they'll do Australia for much longer. My guess is that the Wonder and Dream swap places for a summer in a couple of years.
It's interesting that you say that they won't do Australia for much longer. DCLs first season here was very successful in terms of filling the ships. The 6 day cruise we did from Sydney in January was fully sold out.

We asked whether the bigger ships would come to Australia whilst on board and whilst they couldn't confirm for certain, the person we asked was of the opinion that the Fantasy or Dream would come here for the 2025-2026 season.
