will there be space on our site for a screen room?

We just bought a screen tent and I thought this might come in handy not only for keeping out bugs but for keeping chairs and such dry if a thunderstorm pops up before we get back from the parks. Are most sites large enough to accomodate these plus your rig? Does anybody else use them? :earsgirl:

we use one, but we only have a pop up. a bigger rig might take up too much room and the screen room would be a tight fit, if not out of the question.

We stayed in the 1600 loop last July and had 2 canopies up along with our 32 foot camper. I think the canopies may be the same size as your screen room (we bought one of those ourselves). One of the canopies was right in front by the awning. The other canopy was out by the road to park our golfcart under. However, the awning on our camper was only about 3/4 of the way out because of a tree. It was either lose some of the awning or some of the slide out. :rotfl2:

That's another reason why I wanted one. There's been a couple of occasions where our site was so wooded, we couldn't put the slide out and the awning both. Of course ya gotta have that slide! I'm hoping that at least we'll be able to have it over the picnic table, it's only 12x12. Thanks for your help. :wave2:

We use a screen room with our 35' tt set up. And we always use our slide and awning. If we get to a site we can't fit in, we get it changed! We are lucky this trip, we get there "before the rush" (May 23rd) so there should be plenty of empties for us to choose from if they give us a small site first.

I would have loved to switch sites, however, I was camping beside my parents who have a 40 ft motorhome and my best friend and her family was camping across the street. My best friend did switch her site because she could not get her awning or slide out to fit. :guilty:

Is it typical for awnings or screen rooms not to fit? Are some loops better than others?

We will be taking our new pop up to FW for the first time in May 2006. I'm not that familiar with the unit yet. It has a small screen room that we'd love to be able to use. Our TV will probably be a minivan.

Is there a way to word requests? Will CRO know what I'm talking about?

I'm thinking of getting a preferred loop so that we have less of a walk for our little kids (5 & 2).

That is one thing the hurricanes actually helped with. It has thinned out some of the trees at Ft. Wilderness so, although it is not as lush as it used to be, it has made quite a few of the sites able to accomodate slide outs and awnings a bit better.

Also, I think before the hurricanes, I recall some posts saying a couple of the loops were closed for maintenance, and that they were thinning out some trees to help with the larger rigs.

With a pop-up you'll be fine. The sites are plenty long enough, it's the width that can become a problem. Take a large 5th wheel or MH, put on a front side or back side slide, then a 7' awning, and it can get pretty wide. If they can't back up the large unit because of their length, they may be stuck with a tree right where they want to put out the awning.

You have the option of parking your pop-up anywhere along the length of the site, so you can select where the trees will be relative to your unit. You can also park all the way over to one side of the lot and you should have plenty of room on the other for the screen room. If your screen room does not actually attach to the pop up itself, then you have the other option of locating it either in front of or behind the camper.
