Will there be MB for Beach Club Villas

Will DVC be offering a MB offer for BC villas if they start selling, in January, but the resort will not be available to stay in until October?

Will they be offering any deal?

I would expect some incentive to pre-purchase at BCV... possibly a continuation of MB- especially since it is unlikely that any points at BCV could be used (at any resort) until the BCV resort actually opens.

Until DVC releases some official information, any response (mine included) is pure speculation.

Agreed.

Just thought others speculation was much more informed and based on more knowledgable background than mine.

It does seem like they would offer something for pre-sale though, doesn't it? MB seemed logical to me at first, but then they don't have those points available to put back in some sort of rental pool, so maybe it isn't as likely.
Other speculations?

More pure speculation here.

Vero Beach and Hilton Head are getting closer to sold out. Wilderness Lodge will surely sell out soon. If by the time Beach Club is ready for sales, they may be the ONLY resort left. If that's the case, they may not need to offer any MB at all to begin. I think a lot of people are already planning to buy there, both initial purchases and add on's. A lot may depend on the price per point they decide to sell at. If they keep it at $75, then they may not have any incentives. If they raise it, then they may have to add MB or somethings.

Any other thoughts?

Actually, MB is still valid- since you will be selling back your first years points- whenever you get them.

While it is possible that HH and VB could sell out at the same time as VWL, I sure don't expect that to be a likely scenario.

I expect that whenever VWL actually sells out (I suspect there has not been the rush to buy as happened last year with OKW and BWV), DVC will offer some reason to buy at a resort which is not open and where no points can be used until it does open.

Ahhh, that's the fun of speculating about these things!!

Is there a glossary of terms available out there for us newbies?! I am having a blast reading all these threads and learning about others' experiences, but am having trouble translating some of the "shorthand". For example, what's MB Bo:confused:

We just bought into the DVC in May, 2001 and are making our first trip on points Nov 26 - Dec 2. Bought into WLV, but had to settle for OKW cuz it was full :( Gonna celebrate my 50th with Walt's 100th!!

Thanks to whoever thought up this board thing -- it's super!! WHEEEEEEEEEEEE, only 8 more days!!!!!!!!

MB is Magical Beginnings, which is the current sales incentive where purchasers may sell back their first years allotment of points at $10 (at VWL) to $13 (at VB and HH) to reduce their downpayment/sales price. It has been around in one form or another for a number of years now.

If you ever get stumped by an abbreviation, please ask. They do get confusing at times. You can also try out DVC Chat on Sunday nights. See the post at the top of the page.

Enjoy!

That would be Pete Werner founder of the entire DIS -- Internet guru extrodinaire and fellow DVC member. Doc does a darn good job keeping the DVC Board running smoothly!

I have to second that (e)motion. I am so glad I found this site and the boards here. I was looking for DVC info and general Disney info for our trip in Jan and found this site. It is great, it has LOTS of useful info and tips, the memebers on the boards are ALWAYS helpful and friendly.

I would agree on this point to. Doc has been very helpful and friendly and lead me along the right path. I am hoping I may run into him in Jan at OKW, as we overlap our stays by a couple days, I believe.

Now on to the recent question of this thread, yes there is a place for abbreviatons it is at Deb's Unofficial Walt Disney World Information Guide Deb's Abbreviation list I found it a very useful reference, I still check it on occasion as an abbreviation comes up I don't know.

(and a little tip that was passed along to me, I believe by Doc) new questions should be asked in a new thread. This list would have come up sooner but the main point of the thread was if BCV will have MB and some people may have not noticed your question about list of abbreviation.

Thanks for the kind words! Carol, Robin, Regina and I all strive to offer as complete a view of DVC as possible. It sure helps us to have the collective knowledge of the great contributors to this forum to provide their experiences and thoughts.

There is also a listing of abbreviations right here at DIS.

Enjoy!

Just talked with our guide (we're really agonizing over an add-on) and it didn't sound like he expected VWL to sell out in December. We have a December use year and I asked about using MB for a 50 point add on. He said we could definitely use MB, but would have to wait until our new use year, December 1, 2001. He said he expected there would still be points available in mid to late December, if we wanted to wait a little bit.

That raises a good question, Kda, how far in advance of your use year is required to use MB? It seems like there is no advantage to you buying now before your use year, how far in advance of your use year do you need to be? The first banking window?

According to our guide, MB is supposed to be used during the 100% banking period (maybe that's why you often have a use year that's about 6 months prior to your actual purchase month). He said that it's possible to use MB during the next banking period, also, but it's not to be used after that because Disney wouldn't have 'time' to make use of the points. I was hoping that since there was only 2 weeks left of our use year, we could sell them to Disney and not really miss those points :-) but I guess they figured out that's not to their benefit. If we do the add on, we'll have to wait a whole year to be able to use those extra points. Still, $500 would be a big help.
I have read the other posts a couple days ago that sounded like there were some inconsistent practices regarding the banking window. The discussion was about buying an add-on near the end of the use year (NOT using MB) and losing the points because there wasn't time to take a last minute trip --- or having to rent the points out to avoid this.

I know this is off the topic of the original poster, but we purchased a 50 point add on at VWL in October. Our guide had told us that MB could only be used on a purchase of 100 points or more. Has this changed recently? We would have used MB, but since we couldn't we have 50 more points to use this year, oh well!

There was another thread several days ago where several people said they purchased 50-70 points at VWL with MB, so I called our guide Sunday. He told me we could definitely use MB for 50 points---- I left this question in a VM and asked him several times when he returned the call. We just have to wait until our new use year, on December 1st. I know that's not what others posted several weeks ago when the latest MB program was announced, so don't know if there was a recent change or not.
