Will the Nightmare before Christmas overlay happen this year?

With all the 60th stuff going on, I'm wondering what we can expect for the Christmas decorations...including the HMH overlay. Does anyone know yet?

I think they'll put the overlay on the Haunted Mansion, especially since it stays up for the entire Halloween season, through Thanksgiving, till Christmas. The fireworks and parade are not expected to change this year, since they just debuted the 60th Anniversary entertainment. Decorating might be affected, does anyone recall what happened for the Christmas season the year of the 50th and how the Castle looked?

They haven't official announced much of anything about HalloweenTime 2015 yet (although the announcement could come any time now), which is when HMH would normally debut. Like ADLFAN, I'm inclined to say that Haunted Mansion Holiday will be presented like normal. While the addition of the Hatbox Ghost has increased the HM's popularity, HMH is one of the big draws during the latter half of the year and runs from September through early January (normally).

In terms of Christmas, there have been some information slowly dribbling out (like the fact that the holiday fireworks and parade will not be presented in 2015), not a lot has been announced formally yet. Keep an eye on the Christmas SuperThread for all the latest discussions, rumors, and speculations.

So, the Hatbox Ghost won't be in HMH, right? I have a friend who can't get to DL until September and wants to see Hattie, but I told her that he might not be there because of HMH. I've only seen HMH once, so I can't remember exactly what they have in there, but I'm pretty sure it's all HMH. Thanks!

At this point, no one can say for sure if they'll remove the Hatbox Ghost or find a way to incorporate him into HMH. The area where he is now was just an empty space (wall) before and wasn't used for either HM or HMH. Most of the major features are changed over to NBC characters, but some do remain (like Madame Leota), so it's possible that they'll find a way to incorporate him, but it's also quite possible that he'll be removed with the other HM features.

Would seem unlikely as the attic "storyline" (however disjointed) is completely removed for HMH.

Everyone has their guesses as to when Halloween Time will start at DL this year (we should have started a betting pool). But if I were to offer me guess, HM will shut down Aug 31 and reopen as HMH on Sept. 18.

Haunted Mansion Holiday and Space Mountain Ghost Galaxy are both listed on the DL Halloween Time webpage.

It's a source of ongoing discussion in the Christmas/Holiday Season Superthread, and I always post anything that qualifies as a rumor, or confirmed fact, or speculation there.

As figment_jii said, not much is known right now. Even when certain things were thought to have been official, now they might not be definite/official/confirmed. The bottom line is that the rumor mill has dried up, and Disney takes its sweet time to release official info.

I'm 97% positive that Haunted Mansion Holiday will be back. It's integral to the Halloween Time season and to the holidays.

Decorations are one thing. Actual holiday entertainment and overlays are an entirely different thing. As far as decorations, there will be trees, wreaths, garland and whimsical reindeer figures here and there, I'm sure. The garland suspended over Main Street will probably not be in place. As for ride overlays, I'm pretty certain that most will return (not sure about Jingle Cruise, though). As for entertainment like the Christmas parade, it's probably not happening but it sounds like there may still be a chance it could run in the daytime. As for the holiday fireworks, I doubt they will happen at all this year. World of Color- Winter Dreams? Probably not, unless the reviews for World of Color - Celebrate continue to be... tepid... in which case, who knows?

If they could just go ahead and not close HM until September 2nd... that would be great... Would give me plenty of chances to ride it our first day (9/1).

maybe they should make sure add hatti to NBCHM this year because all those ppl going to see the 60th stuff at Christmas time probably want to see hatti. I know i do.

Not sure he would have the same impact out of context. While they keep the ballroom and most graveyard ghosts, there is no Bride, no Caretaker and dog (Jack and Zero instead), no Hitchhiking Ghosts; Madam Leota is a Christmas version; etc.

Might be anti-climatic to see the Hatbox Ghost where he doesn't belong "just because."

It is about time for the AP's to get their Halloween newsletter (with info about the party).
I have my fingers crossed that will have some viable info.

I will be sure to post any info as soon as I get it!

I know that the AP newsletters have been somewhat inconsistent. Another poster on the HalloweenTime SuperThread posted an image of a flyer they got (I don't think it's an AP newsletter) in the mail just saying September and October.

I know in the past that the AP newsletter hasn't always been accurate about the dates of the parties, but the Parks Blog has usually had the right info. So keep and eye on the Parks Blog for an announcement sometime this summer. In the past, they've announced the dates at the very beginning of July, but so far they have not yet released that information. My guess is that they don't want to take attention away from the upcoming 60th anniversary, so we might not actually hear anything until after the 17th. However, as soon as the dates are posted, that information will show up here on the Disboard (check the HalloweenTime thread and the 2015 Calendar of Events thread).

To go back to the original question about Haunted Mansion Holiday, I posted this info in the Halloween Time Superthread in more detail - http://www.disboards.com/threads/ha...ween-time-2015.3270919/page-154#post-54007039, but, in a nutshell, supposedly a Cast Member on the phone at DLR (and those phone CMs are not terribly reliable) confirmed to someone that, indeed, Haunted Mansion will be shutting down to get its annual overlay. So, unless that CM was just completely off his/her rocker, then yes, HMH will be back.

As I mentioned in my previous post in this thread, actual Christmas time decorations and holiday season entertainment are different matters entirely. Decorations should be present during the holidays -- it's too 'big' of a season to not decorate. Holiday entertainment is up in the air right now.

Any projections on when the HM will be shut down for the overlay? Will they shut it down before or after Labor Day. Hoping its the day after so we get a chance to ride once during our trip that week.

I highly doubt they'd wait until the day after Labor Day to close HM. It takes 18-days to install the HMH overlay, so if they wait until September 8th to close the attraction, that means they wouldn't be re-opening it until somewhere around September 25 or 26, which is far beyond what anyone expects the start date for HalloweenTime to be.
