Will the DIS Unplugged last beyond Pete & John?

Just wondering if when Pete & John decided that he's had enough does he show continue on? I'm assuming Disboards will live in infamy, however will the show go on...?

you can't really speculate that until the circumstances of why are in front of you. It is a company, companies outlive the founders and shows outlive the hosts all the time.

I've thought of that recently too @CampbellzSoup
Since the Bob Varley studio is in Petes house, I think it would need to undergo a massive change if it were to go on without him, like, if another agency/website were to pick it up.
But I don't know that Pete would let it go to someone else.

Either way, I hope it doesn't happen!!!

There is a long history of companies outliving their founders: Henry Ford, Louis Chevrolet, Karl Benz in the auto business to name a few. Steve Jobs in the computer business. Walt Disney, Sam Goldwin, Jim Henson, in the entertainment business. Thomas Edison, George Westinghouse, Elisha Otis, Alexander Bell, Samuel Morse in the industrial realm.

I guess the point is that the companies that survive their founders have a good product and a "vision statement" (for lack of a better term) that the subsequent management follows to maintain a viable company.

This is very thought provoking.

I believe everyone listed here was a founder of a company that was a publicly traded corporation with a board of directors to manage the corporation after the founder retired or passed away. While Cory does have the title of president, that doesn't put next in line behind CEO and owner if they were to leave.

I can not see a time where Pete and John decide to just shut it down. IF they were to though, I can't imagine the show continuing in it's current incarnation. Pete had mentioned that when Bawb passed they considered ending it there. Dreams and the website could live on, but the shows would end there.

Pete, John & Kevin are the "Brand". I think without them the show would not exist. Dreams unlimited will exist (which fits the examples you gave) but I dont see the podcast carrying on.

Without taking anything away from them (and the rest of the podcasters), again shows carry on without their founders. Wonderful World of Disney for example. Or perhaps the CBS evening news after Walter Cronkite. Various iterations of 60 Minutes.

technically the show was very much Bob and look where it is now. The video show was very much dustin and they were the hosts. Craig took over producer and more technical talent is coming in. The show is structured to keep having someone missing or changing, including pete, john and kevin and I really enjoy those shows just as much.

They would be greatly missed but the format works much like cheers and mash did when major roles changed.. Will it remain exactly the same? doubtfull. Will it survive? absolutely. Other podcasts where it's literally 1 person that must do it, they couldn't survive.. this is setup to be long running.

Corey & Julie are original hosts of the show, too. And I think they will carry on DISUnplugged if ever Pete decides to fully retire, though I hope this doesn't happen anytime soon. Didn't Corey take over the responsibility of running DISboards/DISUnplugged years ago, or is that job still Pete's?

I understand what the last three posters are saying. I suppose it would be the same as when the original hosts of WDWTODAY left. The show is different in everything but the name. I guess what I am saying is that if Pete, John & Kevin left there is not noone currently on the staff that could carry the show other than maybe Ryno. They would have to hire out a host. Obviously all my opinion, but the fact that they didnt produce a show today due to Pete being sick, also John & Kevin gone tells me there isnt a host currently on staff to replace Pete.

Anyways I dont see any of them leaving for awhile.

I think you'll find that is because the studio is at Pete's house and he doesn't want to spread his germs, he quarantines the house/studio when he's sick, not just when Kevin and John are away

I don't know how much of that is "nobody to host" and how much is "keep people away from the house of the guy who may contagious."
But I do get what you're saying - I don't know who would host if Pete suddenly decided to stop hosting. Craig does a good job on the Universal show, but I don't know how he'd do on the Disney World show because it's a different format. Teresa did okay with The Trip, but that was also with JL and a different format.
I'm sure that if Pete and John want the show to continue even after they retire to Aulani (I assume that's what they plan to eventually do), they'll find a way to make it work, whether that means finding a host from outside the company or grooming someone from within to take over the podcast. Hopefully that day won't come too soon, though.

There is another Disney podcast that I listen to that got to almost 1500 episodes when the original crew decided to leave and left the name to another group.

It carries on but is not the same

If the DIS Unplugged can survive @sporter5353 dancing on camera, I think it can survive just about anything.

That incident sparked one of the meanest things I've ever written to a member of the team...and it wasn't really all that mean.
Still I can't help feel a little responsible for Steve giving us all the heave-ho to pursue love and happiness in Salt Lake Ci-ty.
