Will someone please explain Hotwire for me?

I booked the MCO Hyatt for Dec. 23rd, the night before our cruise, for a AAA rate of $177, 2 adults, 2 kids. Then I saw some posts about people using Hotwire, so I checked it out.

For my date, I got 4 prices for the Hyatt:
$153
$70 listed as "Best Value"
$100 listed as "Midscale"
and $43 listed as "Economy"

The "star" values were different for all 4 options.

How can there be 4 such varied prices for the Hyatt for Dec. 23rd, and $70 being the "Best Value" if $43 is lower than that? Is the 443 room in the Hyatt basement or something? I don't get it. I've never used Hotwire before; can someone straighten me out. I'm definitely missing something here.

Thanks!

You don't know what hotel you are bidding on through Hotwire. I purchased a room for our trip in August and ended up with the Crowne Plaza at the Orlando Aiport for $57 per night. If you have your heart set on staying at the Hyatt, I wouldn't use Hotwire. Once you book, you can not cancel. The stars, descriptions and rates are for the various hotels in the area your are looking at. I've used Hotwire several times and have always had good luck, but if you are really set on a certain hotel, I wouldn't use Hotwire.

Thanks, firstcruiser. I thought I was going to faint at getting the Hyatt for $43 a night!
