Will she be there in the morning?

So the plan is to celebrate my 40th bday at food and Wine festival with my DW and DD(9) - I KNOW I won't be driving - So if my DW is somehow convinced to have a few frosty drinks will the car still be there the next morning if we take the bus back to POP?

What do they do with cars left in the parking lots?

Why not just take the bus in the first place??

Probaby, but since POP has direct bus service why not just take the bus both ways?

This way your wife can join you in celebrating and nobody is tempted to drive when they shouldn't.

Will the young child be in the care of other adults?

They said a few frosty beverages... not sloshed drunk. An adult can have a few drinks and still be in control.... yet at the same time be responsible for a child (especially one that is in 3rd grade) and responsible enough to make the decision to not drive since they have had a few.....

We took our daughters to the Coors Brewery this summer. They are 11 and 14. They offer 3 beers free to each adult at the end of the tour and free soda for the kids... you bet we enjoyed that..... we were still in control, our girls loved the day, and all went well......

OP, take the bus, enjoy a few drinks through the day and enjoy the bus ride home......

Just take the bus if you think both adults will imbibe.

dis-happy -Happy Birthday! Sounds like fun.

Thanky you - I hope it is :)

Thank you all for your concern - I appreciate we can take the bus both ways but the " somehow convinced" aspect of my question was crucial - DW rarely partakes , normally getting virgin cocktails - her preference - its about 90/10 she'll not indulge.

we have a rental this time as DW really hates the end of night bus rides and we have other plans in downtown Orlando, so we more than likely will use it given its paid for. My concern was the what if scenario... Thank you Daddio for your response.

Sadie22 :rolleyes1 Yeah - I'm going to ditch my kid ON my birthday IN WDW :rotfl2: just cause you're so concerned you should know that if she asks real nice I even let her take a sip of the frosty drinks

Dudspizza- I appreciated your post. Is that a habs farm team logo in your avatar?

Not a Habs (Montreal Canadians) logo, but a variation of it... if you look close it has a ST in the middle of the C. It is the logo of St. Cloud State University... my alma mater. http://www.stcloudstate.edu/

Why don't you just have your kid drive you back to the hotel? If she is in third grade I'm sure she has played enough video games to have the hang of it and Disney has enough signs up to guide her. And who would ever know with all the tourists that can't drive driving including the visitors from other countries and the seniors..... I'm sure she would blend right in!

Since at least up to now there's no definitive answer on what happens to cars left in the park lots overnight, and since you apparently don't wish to leave the car at the resort even one day ;), probably the best suggestion anyone can give until you get an absolute answer is: please don't even attempt to "somehow convince" your wife to partake of any alcohol, even in celebration of your milestone birthday, until you are safely ensconced back at your resort for the evening. Pop has some fun, frosty drinks she can enjoy!

:rotfl: Love it! Just the other day as I was moaning over having to drive my kids somewhere AGAIN...my 8th grader asked, "What's the big deal with driving? It's easy, you just press your foot down there and steer!"

My mom used to say, "I can't wait until you can drive"........... I bet her tune changed once I actually started driving!

this is a very responsible family.. who only are asking for their options. simple question: "can we leave the car overnight in the parking lot?"
I saw one answer, which was "yes". I applaud them for seeking out options, "just in case".
as far as any adult "not" drinking to be in control of children. please..... any parents putting a query such as this on a mesage board are not going to get so Pie-eyed as to not be able to "take care" of their children.

As we're each entitled to our own opinion, I would temper that to " this a responsible family...", omitting the 'very'. That would be a valid description were the OP not inclined or tempted to even suggest his designated driver partake of some alcoholic beverages in celebration of his milestone birthday; or, if he is so inclined, if the family were to opt for Walt Disney World transportation at the beginning of the day.

No, obviously suggesting that the eight-year-old drive - or that responsible adults like the OP and his wife would drink to the point of not being able to care for their young child - is extreme. But using WDW transportation this one day and finding that ultimately wasn't necessary seems to make the most sense, especially if the OP's plans don't involve that same park the next day.

last I checked (and I am a bartender with a Basset liscence) you are legal to drive under .08. a designated driver can have a cocktail. did they change the laws? is it now .000? not in Illinois, anyway.

anyway, he doesn't even think she will. he just wanted to know the rules for overnight parking.

can anyone tell him the rules?? (his original question?)

(I will agree that I , personally, would just take the bus. we do this often, even if we have a car, cause we DO choose to partake of adult, LEGAL beverages.)
