Will Our Old MK Rope Drop Strategy Work With New Opening Show?

For years we'd view the train station opening, hop the horse trolley to the castle then comfortably do Space Mtn, Buzz and People Mover before using a FP. Will we be able to view the new opening at the castle, I assume it's there, then walk on the three as before without Fast Passes?

just back from 3 weeks at WDW...
yes, the new opening show is at the castle..
i assume what you're describing is doable, though we never went that direction at rope drop.
We'd planned on doing it one of our MK days, but the person who wanted to do space mountain was sick, so we went the other way...
but from our experiences rope dropping fantasyland and adventureland/frontierland, i assume your plan will work...
although buzz does get a very long line, so i don't know if you'll be able to do both space mtn and buzz....
the TTA doesn't have a FP, but there's really no problem doing that one at any time of day...

by the way, there's another reason to rope drop space mountain - when we were there, they had the FPs turning right and the standbys turning left...
given that i much prefer the left side, i would only want to ride it standby if they're the only ones turning left..
and the only way to go standby is at rope drop...

Absolutely!
The vast majority of rope-droppers will still be running for 7DMT.

yes, you might even to do a few rides on space, and or buzz before the lines get too long.

it's easy to rope drop Tomorrowland (or Adventure/Frontierland), but I don't think you will be able to ride the vehicles beforehand.

We were just there last Wednesday before rope drop. I asked the driver of the trolley if we could ride and she said they don't start running until after the opening show. So if you want to see the show AND do the trolley TO the castle, you may have to back track.

the times jump up pretty quickly...
again, we didn't go to tomorrowland, so i don't know how rope drop plays out there...
but on the adventureland side, we did jungle cruise first...we were on the first boat out...
then pirates..
by the time we were done with pirates, the pirates standby time had gone to 40 minutes! and jungle cruise even longer than that..
and we were still within the first hour after rope drop...

so if you want to do it, be at the path to tomorrowland during the castle show and with rope drop immediately head to space mountain...then to buzz...
