Will my cell phone work at WDW??

I have a Verizon wireless cell phone with the national plan. Will I be able to call home free after 9 p.m. and on Saturdays and Sundays just like I normally do??
Will costs be the same as if I am at home since I have the national plan??

As long as you're on the national, you're ALWAYS in your coverage area, and there shouldn't ever be any roaming or long distance charges.

So yes, everything should work as it does at home. Your evenings should still start at 9 and weekends are Saturdays and Sundays.

My roommate has the Verizon national plan with a Californian number. Works fine for her. Reception may be spotty in some areas, especially in buildings and on rides.

From my experience with AT&T Wireless, Epcot and the Studios tend to have the worst reception areas.

YES, I have never picked up a phone in Disney other then my cell phone. I have called from the lines , in the hotel, rsturant and just while I am walking around. I have the national plan like you and get no roaming charges at all. A few yrs ago we were on the tarmack at the airport for 2 hrs, we were all aloud to use our cell phones intil they told us to shut them off and we started down the runway.

Yes, your phone will definitely work! In fact, last year we got stuck on the People Mover, or TTA, and I called my father. We were in the tunnel, by Carousel of Progress, and the phone worked fine.

Like GailT, I never use another phone.

We have Verizon wireless cell phones and they work just fine when we at at WDW. We have the 300 any time minutes plan that is good all over the country so we can call anytime any were at no extra charge.

Be careful if you are using America's Choice. The coverage is kinda spotty and I got billed some roaming fees when making calls from CBR. Thats the only place I've ever had a problem though.

The Cingular national plan works great at WDW. It even worked inside TT at Epcot when we got stuck during one of the "infamous" ride malfunctions-we called our son who was in another car ahead of us!

It is bad enough that I have to listen to people's life stories while they shop or are at the library, ect, I do NOT want to listen to that whil I am on vacation! Emergencies, yes! General conversation? Save it for when you are alone.

My DH and I use our cell phones to communicate with each other at WDW. We separate in the parks, and use the cells like family radios.

My reception at Port Orleans Riverside was spotty, at best. I stayed in Oak Manor. I often found it difficult to maintain a strong signal, but could still make calls most of the time.
