If we are offered a bump in exchange for a free ticket, is it OK to do this if you are using Magical Express? Will they take our luggage on to the resort? I assume we would need to call the resort, would we need to contact ME?

I have no idea if this will happen. In March, we took a bump on the way home and were able to get vouchers for a future flight. Seemed like a great deal.

Right now, our flight to Orlando and back both look full (only offering Business class fares for over $300 each way now, I paid $74 each way six months ago for our tickets on Airtran).

Again, I have no idea if this will even be offered, and right now I wouldn't be comfortable taking it on our trip to Orlando since we are using ME, but thought I would ask here to see if anyone knows what would happened to our luggage if it were tagged for ME but we didn't show up.

Thanks,
DJ

If I understand the whole procedure correctly, your luggage is pulled behind the scenes at MCO, and is not sent to your resort until you check in at the DME counter. So it should be fine, they'll just hang on to your luggage until you finally do make it to MCO, and then they'll send it along. If you do take the bump, I would certainly mention it to the CM at the DME checkin counter, and show them your luggage tags (airline issued) so they'll be sure to find them.

Good Luck!!!

Oh, I thought it would just go on to the resort ahead of us. Huh? Well, I think we will stick with our original plan to not bump on the way TO Disney, but if it is offered on the way home, we will do that.

I would hate to take away time from Orlando anyway. If we bumped it is possible they wouldn't even get us there until the next day.

In March, they made it sound like we would leave later that day, but once the plane left and they looked at the computer they couldn't get us on a plane until the next day. It was GREAT for us! We wanted to stay in Florida another day. They gave us a free hotel room and meal vouchers for dinner and breakfast and we rented a car and headed back to Disney for the rest of the day.

But if we were delayed a day on the way down to Orlando it would mess up our plans AND who knows where our luggage would be.

Thanks for letting me know the luggage doesn't get put on to ME until we check in at the ME desk. That helped make my decision. We are not bumping on the way down, just on the way home (if offered).

You can ask what replacement flight is being offered prior to volunteering. The airline must give you the flight (if any) they promise even if they have to forcibly book you on it (yes that is possible with all computer reservation systems) and ask for vounteers on that flight.
