Will marathon weekend availability fluctuate at this point?

I realize no one has a DVC crystal ball, just looking for opinions :) We booked a 2 bedroom at BCV for marathon weekend at 11 months. Long story short, plans changed, and we had to modify our dates. Our dates now are January 7-17. We have January 7-12 at OKW. We have January 12-17 at GFV. I am super excited about GFV, not so excited about OKW. We like it there, just don't love it. I am really hoping for kidani for those first 5 nights. I have it waitlisted, and I check the website constantly. Noting seems to change. Everything is booked up the 8, 9, and 10. Availability on the 7 and 11 fluctuates a bit, but that's it. Is there any point to checking the member website or once marathon weekend books up does it pretty much stay that way? Just looking for thoughts and experiences from others :)

It never hurts to keep trying and waitlisting. I think you are more likely to get a 2 bedroom than say a studio at this point...as many for the marathon weekend are booking the smaller rooms just for the run. Peoples plans change all the time, people get hurt training or families that were just going to vacation also might cancel or swap around. Even within 30 days you can sometimes snag switch as most people let their waitlist expire. Even some DVC'ers I have heard will move to a hotel room if they can't get what they want (say downgrade to a studio or something).

There was a lot of movement around September 10th, not sure why, but rooms shuffled around a lot and one of our waitlisted nights came through. Have two more nights in a 2 br waitlisted; if those are freed up then the 2Br at OKW we have booked will be freed--so I would say hold tight, it's possible. Not sure why certain times seem to be a flurry of activity--that was just about 4 mo out exactly.

When you pay nearly $200 to run in a marathon, you don't usually cancel unless you get hurt or there is a family emergency. Keep watching the website, but I'm not sure you'll find what you want.

Actually sometimes life just happens and you have to cancel. Hubby and I have been coming down to do the races for the past 17 years and just this morning I had to defer our registrations and cancel our reservation. Unfortunately for the original poster we had a 1BR at SSR

I had to cancel due to a friends daughter having a big event that weekend.

Life happens.

Not everyone books the marathon.

And not everyone there is there because of the races. Some might learn about the races and cancel. etc.

Longer stays are obviously harder, but I just went back and looked, and I booked our short BWV stay during this year's marathon weekend October 27. I don't know if it's all that was available, because I was booking based on the very few points I had left. :)

It's funny, just today one of our waitlists cleared. We had January 7 and 8 booked on points, the 9 on cash, and the 10 and 11 on points. Today the 9 came through on points!

Things were a little more open today including several rooms at jambo and even a grand villa at BWV for the 9, 10, and 11. We don't want to have to move more than once though, so we'll just stick with the OKW/GFV split unless the full 5 nights come open somewhere.

Awesome! My DS just turned 2 and my girls are 10. I have no idea what my signature says their ages are because I'm always posting on my phone. On our first trip they were 2.5 and we stayed at the Grand Floridian. So magical :)

You're only 2 years behind on the signature :) We did GFV this past Feb and it was fantastic. Our next trip is BLT with the grandparents!
