Will it be opened as they finish rooms in 2008.. we are going down on Dec 6 2008 and I am toying with the idea of staying here but I would prefer the Kidani Village because of the location and the rooms are a bit bigger from what I read, but my question is will some rooms be open or are they waiting for the entire resort to be completed before opening it?
thanks in advance.

The plan is to open a little bit at a time. If you look at plans for the complex, it's actually a chain of about 18 small buildings all strung together. Conceivably it was done that way to allow maximum flexibility--they'll be able to bring buildings on-line as sales dictate rather than all at once.

When the complex first opens all of the main amenities should be functional (lobby, parking, pool, etc.), but the guest rooms are likely to open gradually over a period of months.

I think (could be wrong) that they are working on the part closest to AKL now.

so if they start here - they have to completely at least half of it before opening anything - the check in desk, lobby, restuarant are in the middle part.

there is a rumor that at least that part will be opened next year.

but that is only a rumor.

if you take SSR as an example, that was built in blocks.and they have to have at least 80% complete to be able to sell a block so the more they sell the faster they have to build to keep up with sales
So with AKV to be able to start selling sooner they converted part of the hotel as the build time for these was quicker for just doing Kidani, as it would have been early next year before they could sell if they didnt convert the hotel rooms.sounds like they are building in blocks from the hotel.this would alow them to open and sell as they are building it in phases and the last bit to be built will be the new pool/play area
This might go some way to explaining why no anouncement about the comtempry as it has to be 80% before they can sell,as its more like a condo than low level

I'm not sure that we can draw any firm conclusions based upon the lack of an announcement.

There's nothing that would legally prevent them from announcing a project under development. Several times DVC has announced projects that never even got off the ground.

Some have speculated that DVC hasn't announced the CR because it would hurt sales at SSR and AKV. That's certainly a possibility, but it didn't keep them from announcing the Disneyland and Hawaii resorts. :confused3
