Will Jetblue's Prices Come Down?

I keep checking Jetblue (many times per day  ) and the prices are staying at $234 for one way! I already booked my flight down in May for $134, so I am just looking for the way home (MCO - BOS). There is one flight at 8pm for $174, but I would rather have any of the other 3 flight times. I called Jetblue to see about availability and all the flights are less than half full.

So what do you think? Will the price come down? Should I just pay that hefty amount?

I think there is a good chance they will come down. But...I'd also suggest checking out other airlines. You don't have to fly rt on JetBlue.

In February we flew Bos to MCO on Jet Blue and then home on Airtran because it was cheaper...by a lot.

Check www.kayak.com for the lowest rates on all the airlines for your dates.

Hope this helps.

prices on JB do fluctuate, sometimes very erratically. when i book, i check multiple times per day.

i've never had any luck with kayak.com, but http://www.farecast.com works very well for me as it includes the economy airlines. in my personal experience, it's been a close call between Delta and JB (JB usually edging out), but i'd probably pay a little more to avoid flying delta too. but you may wanna check them out as well.

and always book through the airline directly.

There's a big RISK as you wait. As a general rule flights go UP as they get closer to the date. That's when the airlines can sell them for full price to business travelers so they tend not to want to discount. I generally would not wait more then 21 days out.

(And if it was winter I would pay extra to avoid JetBlue, but your risk of a them having a winter storm blow up are slim in May LOL!)

Well, I booked it. When I put in more people the price went up another $30 a ticket. So I bit the bullet and just bought the darn things. I don't think I have ever paid this much for tickets to FL!! And the flight was 2/3 full, so I don't know if the price will come down.

I looked into airtran and their cheapest flight was $167. But I have never flown them before and was leary about the no seat assignment thing. Especially where some tickets do get seat assignments. (at least with southwest I know how it works and can work with it)

Thanks for all your help!

just keep watching the rates.. i never shut down my computer so i always keep a browser window with the rates up and periodically hit F5 to refresh. it never times out.

Just as a side note: you can pick your seats on Airtran 24 hours in advance....like Southwest. We did this in February and did not have any problems at all...and that was coming home on the Saturday at the end of President's Week.

Well, my flights came down today - I had a feeling if I booked they would drop the next day! So I called and got a $180 credit.

Heather, I didn't know that about airtran. Do you do that online?

i had one of my flights go down on JB too today, but only by $10 (so it went from $89 to $79)

You can't pick seats on Southwest until you actually get onto the plane.

If you check in 24 hours ahead of time you improve your chances of getting into the first (after preboarders) boarding group.

No rhyme or reason...

We are going May 8-13 Boston-MCO

Originally purchased each way for:
5/8 $89
5/14 $124

Last week:
5/8 $79 (I got a $10 credit p.p.)
5/14 $149

today:
5/8 $114
5/14 $124

See how they fluctuate... I say book and keep checking for a credit

Have you tried using Farecast.com? I think it is still in beta testing but it is really interesting to see if they suggest you wait or buy tickets...

As far as I can tell, Farecast only tells you to buy or wait if you are within a 90 day window of your trip. It's not very helpful for advance planning.
