We are new owners at SSR and we'd like to make a reservation at Beach Club or Boardwalk Villas for end of February '06. Will it be hard for us to get in? Or if we don't get Beach club will they automatically make it for SSR? thanks in advance!

You should make a reservation for SSR at the 11 month window to ensure you have a reservation somewhere and then call at the 7 month mark and see if the other resorts are available. If not, you can be put on a waitlist.

I don't think it will be hard to get a reservation at the BCV or the BWV at the end of February, 2006. Just call as soon as your 7 month window opens. If you want President's week, you may have to use the waitlist for someof the days, though.

i agee with poohj80 that it's a good idea to make your reservation at your home resort of SSR at the 11 month window. That way you willdefinitely have a place to stay. You can cancel that one as you make the reservation for BCV or BWV.

Best wishes -

So, If beach club is avail at the 7 month mark then it will not be a problem or penalty if I switch from SSR to beach club? Will I not have a good change getting beach club if I'm on the wait list?

I might just be lucky, but so far we haven't had many problems getting in places. We just stayed at BCV in a studio the last week of Feb/1st week of March and we did not have any problems getting that room at 7 months out. We did not book at our home resort (VWL) because we didn't want to stay there so we figured if we couldnt' get in BCV we would take chances with another place. We don't travel holdiay times.

I think it depends on they type of room and time of year, for the most part it seems you can get in at a few places. They might not be your 1st choice, but there always seems to be someplace open. Wait lists seem to work pretty well too.

spring break starts President week and goes until May (it use to stop the middle of April).

so may sure that you get your BCV reservations before the last 60 days - or you might have a problem.

As to first question, all you do when you call at 7 months is find out if there is availability at BCV, and, if so, you just cancel your prior SSR reservation and then reserve BCV at the same time without any penalty.

As to the second question, if there is not anything available at 7 months out for when you want to, you can be placed on the wait list and your chances just depend. There have been many reports by people having luck with the wait list but there have been just as many of people who did not.

Saw first page reply from Disney PhD, and it set my mind to wandering. My wife and I own at BCV, which we love, but have enjoyed recent stays at VWL (June and Xmas last year). Do members ever make reservations at their home resorts for same time period and do a swap? This would eliminate concerns about 7 month demand being greater than units available. I know it doesn't increase supply of units, but it would guarantee better availability because of the 4 month advantage.

that is what the DVC rental/TRADE board is for - some members do - but those generally wanted a 3-bedroom Grande Villa at OKW, BWV or VB - and they didn't own at those places.

I've never visited the rent/trade board. BTW, I just noticed the title of my previous post on this thread. No, my wife (Joan) and I are are not "curios", although having both reached the age of 55, we may soon qualify. :)
