Will I regret HDDR instead of regular table service meal?

I'm a newbie. Haven't been to Disney in 18 years and think I have my planning under control. Here's my dilemma.
Trip is Oct. 24-20. I made my ADRs when I thought our first day in MK (Saturday) would be an early-closing day. I planned to leave the park mid-afternoon, hang at the GF for awhile, and then take in the 6:15 HDDR.

Now the park is staying open until Midnight and, of course, it's slim pickin's for ADRs. Would I be better off cancelling HDDR, eating at a low-demand place, and returning to MK for evening EMH? I think I am having a bit of a "grass is always greener" situation but I really do wonder if HDDR is taking too much time away from the parks.

Any thoughts?

Not really answering your question, but HDDR created a lasting memory for us -- whereas I tend to forget some of my table service meals.!

I would think the break from MK would be nice, especially if you're staying until midnight. You could just take the boat from MK to FW, enjoy the delicious meal and entertainment, then take the boat back. I'd keep the reservation.
