Well I could not resist stepping on the scale this morning (again) even though my official weigh-in is tomorrow morning. Yesterday morning the scale showed me being up 1 pound and this morning I got readings (I weighed multiple times  ) between .5 to 1.5 pounds up from last week. :( I really hope it is just water weight, etc. because it is depressing to see the scale go up when I have been doing so many things right. (Actually what was really depressing was stepping on the scale last night before bed and it showed I was up 6.5 pounds!!! :earseek: How can you fluctuate in weight so much over the course of a day?)

Anyway, I got my 5 pound clippie last week with a total loss of 5.5 pounds. If I officially gain more than .5 this week does that mean I lose my clippie and have to try to earn it again?

Also, my DH has offered (OK threatened is a better word) to hide my scale from me and he will only give it to me on Wednesday mornings. Should I take him up on his offer or will it drive me crazy?

Becka you need to hide that scale, tell DH take it away. Stepping on the scale daily is only going to make you crazy. You should probably weigh yourself at the same time. Did you weigh yourself after eating?

I don't think you should have to give back your 5# clippie for the slight gain. It could be water retention or muscle weight. If you are excercising you are making muscle which does weigh more than fat. Have you been taking your measurements? I think that is a better judgement of weight loss than stepping on the scale.

Make sure you are drinking plenty of water.

Keep up the good work. Don't give up now. We are cheering for you!

I agree with Cthia, it could be muscle. Also, I would just go on the scale once a week, otherwise you might make yourself crazy! Good luck!

YES HIDE THE SCALE!!!

And start taking your measurements! :) Measure every two weeks.

As far as I know, the only way you can hand in a clippie that you EARNED!!! is to hand it in for a larger number. So, even if you gain two pounds, you STILL have to keep that 5 pound clippie because you EARNED it! :)

Now don't fret! Water retention is one thing that makes us weigh heavier. Also, if you weigh at the end of the day, you are carrying all the food around that you ate. That food has a weight too! :) Even though carrots are low cal, they still weigh SOMETHING! :)

Take DH up on his offer. :)

Beck, Becka, Becka....what am I going to do with you?

1. Hide the scale!!!
2. Never weigh just for fun at the end of the day, everything you eat and drink has mass, you know. All of that water you (are supposed to be) drinking weighs a lot and the food you eat too will add up to quite a bit of weight at the end of the day.
3. Your baby isn't even one year old yet. Your hormones are still getting all balanced again and your weight will fluctuate from that too.
4. Do I really have to tell you about water retention? I always sound like such a broken record when I do that, but....women retain fluid, the fluid shows a weight gain on a scale. Painful but sadly true.

You do not give back your 5 pound loss clippie because you earned it. You lost 5 pounds, remember? Don't give back the clippie.

Now, listen to me. You are being way too rough on yourself. Take a few deep breaths now, and get focused.

Weigh one time a week, always at the same time of day and preferably wearing similar clothes.

Drink as much water as you can tolerate to help you get rid of any extra fluid your body may be holding. Try to cut down on your sodium intake, if you can tolerate that, because that will help with fluid retention too.

Come here to WISH every day. Several times a day, even (I do). Offer encouragement to others and you will reap the benefit of feeling more encouraged yourself. It works for me :teeth:

Hang in there and repeat after me: I can do this! Now, louder.....that's better. I believe you.

You can do this. I know you can. I believe in you, we all do. {{{HUGS}}} sweetie. Put a smile on your face now, and enjoy the rest of your day. You are a strong, determined and beautiful woman. Start believing it!

Yeah, what Katholyn said!:p

(And have we told you how adorable that picture of Nathan is today?):)

I can't add anything to the awesome pep talks you've received except that I agree with everyone else -- you keep your clippie and have dh stash that wicked scale!!

Yes your DH should hide the scale, I do the same thing all of the time. I always want to step on the scale all of the time.

Hi Mickeymouse70! Welcome to the DIS and a special welcome to WISH. It's so great to see you here.

Will you be accepting the WISH challenge? I sure hope so, we could use you in our support group.

Previous posts - they are my feelings, too. and that adorable pix of Nathan makes me smile also everytime he pops up on my screen! And he is a dead give away at work that I am doing something I shouldn't be doing - cause babies just aren't normally on our computer screens. Oh well he brightens my day even if I don't get a chance to read the posts he is always smiling at me - thanks

And now for my profound words (only because I have been there oh - so many times....... I feel like you are trying to sabotage yourself by weighing too much and at different times of the day. I had a struggle with that myself. When I weighed myself more than once a day or every day - I now realize that I set myself up for disappointment. And there was lots of that and then guess what I did - I thought well this "ain't" working - I having a snack and went to snack and then I would really gain more weight. Well, I know you get it so enough............

hide the scale ;) ;)

If you don't have the will power to stya off it fro a week- then please Becka- HIDE IT! I know how damaging that game is! ANd, if it makes you feel a little better- I can retain up to 10 lbs. of water in a day and lose it , or most of it , by the next morning! Talk about depressing! We're behind ya girl!!! Don't get discouraged! YOU CAN DO THIS!

Wow it is amazing how you can feel so different in two weeks! :) I think my attitude is so much better now than it was just a little over two weeks ago. :)

I did not exactly hide the scale but I do use it much less often now. I have been trying to just weigh-in twice a week. Once on my 'official day' and once right before the weekend to try to encourage myself to be good. ;) I think this works better for me than the everyday thing. :)

That is great, Becka. I'm glad you are cutting down on getting on that scale now. I used to weigh everyday but with all of the fluid fluctuations it just got too depressing
