We made a reservation through Shades of Green and will be staying at the Contemporary Nov 1-7 (for me, DH, DS6, DS3, DD12). I've tried searching, but search is down.......what can you tell me about the Contemporary? Never been there, don't know anything about it. Will I like it? Any room request recommendations, etc? Thanks so much for your help - I LOVE these boards!!!

We loved staying there 2 years ago.

Our room was in the north wing (which is where all the SOG rooms are, I believe). We had a perfect view of the fireworks from our room. We were on the 2nd floor, about 1/2 way down.

We didn't use the pool that stay. The main pool was closed for repair (emergency, I think).

The main pool is nice, it's sort of a mickey mouse shaped. There is another smaller (quiet) pool right behind.

The resturants are lovely (though a bit pricey). We ate at the Contempory Steakhouse several times. Make a PS for Chef Mickeys as it fills up very fast these days!! There also is a large arcade.

There is a boat which circles CR/FW/WL all day. Besure to hop on & take a ride to explore. It's very easy. A nice family dinner will be found at Wispering Canyon (PS's a must) and Trails End (FW, buffet, inexpensive, no PS's accepted, go early). The Hoo Dee Doo is right off the "boat" at FW, too. Very easy to get to if your family likes this show. FW also has a nice little petting zoo & pony rides (horse rides for older childern/adults). Pony rides are $3, closed shoe required.

You're also an easy monorail ride from the resturants at GF and Poly (though I haven't eaten at either).

Enjoy!

You will love the Contemporary! My family and I absolutely love the Contemporary Resort and we have never had a bad stay at this resort. The location is unbeatable, you can walk to/from the MK or take the monorail. It's great being able to take a nice peaceful walk over to the MK in the morning and monorail back in the afternoon. It's also priceless to be able to avoid bus/boat/monorail crowds after parades and fireworks and walk back to your room in 10 minutes. The views from the tower are unbelievable, especially the MK side. It's fun to watch the castle turn colors at night from your room or balcony and watch EWP from your room. I also enjoy watching the boats and ferries in Seven Seas Lagoon or looking out over Space Mountain and hearing the WDW train. The concourse area is a lot of fun because there's great shopping and good food with singing from Chef Mickey's. There are two pools, one quiet and one with a slide and water fountains. My 2 year old loved it! We also enjoy taking the boat to Ft. Wilderness for dinner at Trails End.

For what you are paying thru SoG you will absolutely love it if just for the sheer bargain :). The CR is a MK monorail resort complete with all the benefits that entails. Wonderful access to the MK (we found the walk to be quickest). Access to Seven Seas Lagoon and Bay Lake and all the resorts, recreation, and restaurants around them. Viewing the Electrical Water Pageant (EWP) or possibly some fireworks from your room or the beach. There is lots to like. We stayed at the CR (South Garden Wing) once and we enjoyed our trip. However............................................

How much you "like" the CR itself is up to you. You will enjoy the amenities and location, we can all tell you that. Only you will be able to decide if you like the overall theming of the resort. We didn't care for it that much. The contemporary theme is a bit cold and stark. To us the resort seemed a bit dated. Theme-wise it just isn't our cup of tea. Then again there are others who absolutely love everything about the themeing.

You will enjoy your trip. You will enjoy everything the CR has to offer. When you get back you can let us know how much you liked the resort overall.

Electrical Water Pageant which is a show they have everynight on the lake at each of the resorts.

SOG is placing all its guest in the north wing which is a seperate building from the A-frame structure thru which the monorail goes thru. The convenience of the monorail is wonderful or you can walk over to MK.

Cal Grill & Concourse St are excellent restaurants.
