I have a room with a KING SIZE bed. What is the room like?
I have requested the BOTTOM FLOOR, NON-SMOKING.

Which rooms are close to the snack bar where I can get my coffee every morning?

Anything you can tell me will be appreciated. Thanks.

I'll try to answer some of your questions....

We have never stayed in a room with a King bed, so, I can't answer that one.

You might want to explain a little more when you mention the "bottom floor". In other words, what is your goal with regards to being on the bottom floor? Do you want to be close to the lobby? Do you want to have easy access to the parking lot?

To understand why I posed those questions, you need to understand a little more about the Lodge itself. The Lodge is 6 floors high, but the lobby is on the 3rd floor. (So, if you want to be on the same floor as the lobby, you don't want the "bottom floor", you want the 3rd floor.) In addition, there are only a few rooms on the 1st floor, and they (to the best of my knowledge) are all Pool view rooms. There are no Savannah View rooms on the 1st floor. (So, if you wanted a view of the Savannah from your room, you don't want a "bottom floor", you want, at least, a 2nd floor room...which is, one floor below the lobby.)

As far as your morning coffee is concerned...you can get that at Mara, which is the "grab-n-go" resturaunt at the Lodge. It is on the 1st floor, but only has access through exterior doors which face the pool. (The exterior area is covered, so, you can get there without getting into the rain.) You cannot walk from any room in the Lodge to Mara without walking outside. To be closest to Mara, you probably want to stay on the Zebra Trail.

You can see a map of the Lodge here.

As you can tell from my signature, we have stayed there a number of times and plan to stay there again this December. It is a fantastic resort, and I hope that you enjoy it as much as we do. I hope this information has been helpful.

We stayed here for 2 days last year before switching to the GF. We loved it. I think my Dad would have stayed longer if we could have. The theming is great, grreat foo (did Mara and Jiko), good bus service-- no sharing. My DD loved the animals right outside the door.

A "Standard View" are the rooms on the Giraffe and Ostrich Trails that face the parking lot. And, I think that only rooms with King Beds are the ones that have a day bed. I don't know if any of the standard view rooms have king beds.

I love AKL. We had a standard ressie but were upgraded (without asking) to a savannah room. I must warn you that you will find yourself making excuses to go back to the room to see "your animals". Being next to an elevator near Mara would be the nicest I think.

We love, love , love AKL and have stayed at most WDW deluxe properties.. AKL is the family favorite. Why do you want a Bottom floor room? Previous info is right, lobby is 3rd floor, and to go get your coffee, you will have to go outside and near the pool. The best views are up higher. And believe me, the views are absolutely incredible at this resort. Trust me, walk for your coffee (you are going to anyway, or even better, have them bring a coffe maker and supplies to your room) and while you are sipping that hot coffee, kick back in your patio chair on your balcony and enjoy the animals!!

enjoy! don't limit yourself so that you are not able to get the true enjoyment of this incredible resort!

I was hoping not to have to go on the elevator with all my supplies that I have to take with me...traveling with a baby!!!!
