Will I have a problem with our reservation?

I booked our vacation with a free dining pin last month for Dec 13-27th. Now, last week I decided I want to go back to school and finish up my undergrad degree. I haven't registered for classes yet, as I have to meet with an adviser and that is set up for next week. (I may not even be able to since I am starting so late after everyone else has had a chance to register.) Classes and finals have the option of going until Dec 19th.

Anyway, my question is, if I have to fly down a few days later, is that going to affect our dining plan? I am going to change everything to Hubby's name, but do all parties have to be present to start using the dining? I am assuming no, but want to make sure. Also, if I change the package to have ? day tickets, the rest of the family can add days to their tickets once they get them, right?

As long as FD is offered on the day you arrive, then you have it for your whole stay. If FD ends before your new arrival day, then you will lose your FD.

And yes, you can make a booking with fewer ticket days and then just upgrade only certain tickets after you have checked in.

If I'm understanding your question, you may have to arrive a few days later but everyone else will still arrive on December 13th, is that correct? If that is the case, there may or may not be a problem with the dining plan. People have added phantom guests on free dining reservations in the past to get more dining credits, therefore making Disney request that everyone be present at check in. We have gone during free dining a few times and I have always checked in alone with never being asked for everyone else to be present. With that said, some CMs follow this and some don't, so there's really no telling what will happen until you check in. If it is questioned at check in and your presence is required, your DH could tell them you are arriving later and they might just have you get your KTTW card and activate your DDP credits when you get there. Also, if you are currently the lead guest on the reservation, you might have a problem as Disney doesn't usually change lead guests, so you might not be able to put the ressie in your DH's name. As far as tickets, you can put anything you want as long as you meet the minimum required for free dining, and everyone else can upgrade after check in to whatever they need. HTH :).

We have a similar situation where 2 out of 4 guests on a Free Dining reservation are arriving two days later. Wondering if this will be an issue or if Disney can just add dining credits as of the date the latecomers arrive. Has anyone had any personal experiences with this?

I would check in as normal and if everyone is requested to be present, I would then mention that the other two aren't arriving until later. If that poses a problem, I would ask if their KTTW cards could just be activated once they arrive. As mentioned in my other post, people have created phantom guests to get extra dining credits and Disney caught on to this. But I think it depends on the CM checking you in as we have gone twice during free dining and neither time did the rest of my party have to be present at check in as they were wandering around the resort while I checked in. But with that said, if it is questioned at check in, I think they would work with you and just have the others pick up their KTTW cards upon arrival. Good luck and have a great trip :wizard:.
