Will I hate Value Resorts? Which one should we try?

I've stayed at all the Deluxes, most of the mods. I stayed at Pop Century last winter. It was fine for the money, but I'd just warn that it's a very different experience. The lines were nuts - lines for busses, lines for food court, lines for everything. The rooms are of course smaller, and frankly, I didn't really see any "theming" in the room. (Maybe the updated rooms are more "themed." Overall, a value is a very different experience than a moderate or a deluxe. POFQ is by far the smallest and most manageable of the moderates, so if it wasn't your cup of tea, I'm not sure a value will be either. But always worth trying new things! That's why we did it. My sister (who disliked Pop quite a bit) took another trip with her teenage sons to a Family Suite at All-Star Movies. She preferred All-Stars to Pop.

This is making me so nervous. I have always stayed at POFQ and 2 trips ago I stayed at the POLY. I swore I was a deluxe snob. But I love POFQ and Poly. SO I decided to do a quick trip first mother daughter only (she just turned 1) trip and the only thing available is POP so since it was the only thing available for the time we can go. I'm trying not to over think it, but hoping something becomes available so I can switch resorts!

I agree with those that say if you didn't like POFQ, you likely won't like Pop. Sure, lots of people like Pop...but if a moderate wasn't your thing, a value (with teeny plain rooms with no theming and way over-the-top theming on the outside of the motel rooms...and they are motel rooms) will not be your thing either most likely.

Pop or one of the All Stars are fine for a few nights if you're typically a deluxe person, especially if you're in the parks all day (IMO). But if you're a deluxe person who wasn't impressed with a moderate resort, be very careful (or at least set your expectations) before staying at a value for your entire stay. A value is a very different experience than a deluxe AND a moderate.

I just stayed at Pop for two nights before transferring to a deluxe, and all my previous trips have been deluxe or moderate. Pop was fine...for two nights...and even my kids (ages 10 and 12) asked not to stay there again. Personally, we'd stay off site before staying at a value if that was our only option for the entire trip.

My FAVORITE mod is POFQ, I probably wouldn't reserve anywhere else for the mod pricing.....I have stayed at all the mods and deluxes throughout my disney days (except for BWI, YC/BC) but my budget only allows Values nowadays.....my go to has been All Star Sports for the past 4-5 years, I like it vs Pop because it IS smaller, so there is shorter distances to walk and less people on the buses....I haven't ever shared a bus with other all stars in the past 5 years except for maybe once? And that's when it is EXTREMELY slow and there are like 5 people on the bus....

Looking to save some money. We have stayed at Deluxe (Poly- LOVED IT) and Moderate (POFQ-not impressed) and I am thinking of trying a Value for fun to save some money and try something new.

BUT I am a little nervous about it since I thought POFQ was disappointing and will not stay there again. There was practically no theming in the room at all, felt very outdated, and I did not think it was worth $230 a night.

Generally, we are fine at any hotel that is clean and feels updated. The price per night at the values is on par with what I am looking for. Any suggestions on where we might like to stay? Or will I just be completely unimpressed with all of them?

I think everyone should try it once. However value is not for us. We stayed at the contemporary (felt like we over paid), Coronado Springs (loved it) and Pop (disappointed). We just thought the value felt like we were staying in a college dorm room or something. We wouldn't do it again. Went back to moderate with POR and absolutely loved it.

We stayed at a deluxe resort (CR) for our first stay. Huge mistake! Our next stay was at ASMo and I hated it. I was miserable the whole time. Maybe I would have been either way, but I'll never know. I have stayed at several moderate resorts and I do enjoy those, but we are basically DVC and deluxe people now.

Given your preferences, I'd pick POP or the Little Mermaid rooms at AOA.
My wife and I stayed at a Little Mermaid room at AoA and loved the room, theming, ambiance.............however the Little Mermaid rooms are a good distance from the main hall and transportation. If you can live with that :D then I would recommend AoA!
