Will I hate going in June?

Don't get me wrong, any day in WDW is better than any day elsewhere, but I have been in early May, late March (which was really not too bad cause the war started while we were there and I think that some people stayed away due to terror threat) and early October twice. Tell me how to prepare so I will not be miserable in comparison.

You dont say what part of June you are going. The first week is the best, still low crowds. The second week is still not to bad but you can see pick up in the crowds. I havent been the last couple of weeks but I would imagine its pretty crowded. And any and all of those weeks are going to be hot.

We went last year in June, and will be going this year in June. It's warm, but not unbearably so. It does rain some in June, showers are usually scattered and short lived. Therefore, I always bring my dollar store rain poncho's when going to the park. I also carry my own water in rubbermaid insulated bottles. Lines are usually longer at this time of year, but fast pass makes things a little nicer. Other than that, I think it's a great time to go!

Have fun!

We'll be there June 18-25. I know it will be crowded. I am trying to stay positive and use all the info I know like get there early, use fast pass etc., but I don't know how much more crowded it will really be. i guess you just have to experience it to know. Still I am hoping someone will tell me it won't be as bad as I think.:crowded:

Tourguidemike.com is very helpful in these situations. Lots of tips and info on how to navigateso that you avoid the crowds as much as possible. He does not spell out a tour plan for you but does give you all the info to create one yourself.(he does have sample ones)
His site has been very helpful to us and we have gotten some GREAT tips.

I was there last June. The end of June. I didn't find the crowds unbearable, but the heat was. Saved a lot of money on food, because we were so hot we didn't feel like eating. It wasn't worth taking the time for a shower in the AM because by the time we got from the hotel to the parks we were already hot and sweaty. I'm sure some people don't mind that heat and humidty (and I live in Maryland now, so it's not like I'm not used to it in some part), but I for one won't be returning in the summer months unless it becomes the only way possible!

Very high crowds and very hot but not unbereble. Be prepared for long waits and get there right when the park opens. Also bring a refillable water bottle to fill at water fountains and make sure it is filled at all times. Don't forget sunscreen either or you will be as red as a lobster!

Crazy Kanga, we will be there the same time as you and have the same questions. We have been in July before, but that was 10 years ago. I am also wondering if the 50th celebration will affect the crowd level greatly. Disney is really doing alot of advertising now.

We will be planning for the rain too. We just bought a waterproof cover for our stroller so we can continue to tour the parks.

My question is, do they let you take in umbrellas? Do they allow the big golf style umbrellas, the small collapsable type, or none at all? Just curious

JABEAR: yes you can take in umbrellas. I think they will let you take any size you want but I'm not sure.
Also make sure you have ponchos. Get them at walmart for under $1. Much better price than in the parks.

While normally the June rains are fairly brief, several years ago we had rains almost all day every day for the entire 10 days we were there. I spent several hours every night drying tennis shoes with a hair dryer. By about the 4th or 5th day we had to keep reminding ouselves that we at the "happiest place on Earth" :umbrella:

It hasn't stopped us from going in June, but we plan for the worst and are happy if it doesn't happen. ;)

Thanks MrsJ Henry. I wasn't sure. I'll probably pack ponchos in our backpack and take the umbrella when heavy rain is predicted.

I've been there the last week of June. Just be prepared for the heat, and lots of people. Use FastPass and drink lots of water!!!

We'll also be there when you (original poster and Jabear) will be! June 13-23! :)

The heat I can handle (we're Texans LOL), I can manage the crowd (hey, our first time there ever was Christmas day at MK- if we can handle that... we can handle ANY crowds. LOL Our last trip was Thanksgiving- pretty crowded then too), but I do think I'm going to be totally bummed if it rains all day every day of our 11 day trip... mega bummed. :(

We always go in the summer & always bring insulated refillable bottles of water. Ours have shoulder straps and are not a problem to carry, in the morning at the resort we will fill them with ice & water. Makes a big difference when you have water right there when you need it. Do not commando tour & you will be fine. If you have already seen the parades than that is a good time to go on the rides since alot of people are waiting for the parades the ride lines are shorter. Use fast pass. and if you need a break take it. Instead of walking down main street walk inside the shops since most of them all connect together you will be in air conditioning till you get to the end. This is also a time saver if people are waiting for parades to cut thru the shops. We had a P.S. To get to one time at CP & there was alot of people waiting for the afternoon parade. If we wouldn't of know we could cut thru the shops we would of been late since we were park hopping & had just gotten to the MK.

ETA: We are night people so we normally get a later start and are there till the parks close. One good thing about the summer is the parks are open later so even though the crowds are bigger you do have more hours in the parks. We go early july.

My family and I went to WDW from 6/26-7/5. The crowds were manageable, started getting really bad as July 4th came closer. The weather is typical for summer in WDW- hot and humid, possible shower each day. We actually had some afternoons/evenings completely rained out, which we found odd. We are used to July or August when you know it will rain for a good 10-15 min each afternoon. Just bring your poncho and you'll be fine!
