Will I be scared on Flight of Passage?

This has probably been asked many times, but I want to describe my own fears.

I just want to say that I am eager to try new rides, but I've read some things about this ride that deal with people afraid of heights.

I am extremely afraid of heights; I can't even stand on a chair without being slightly scared. The old Soarin' ride didn't scare me at all. The new one I have to close my eyes in the opening scene and in the Eiffel Tower part. I don't really know too much about how this ride is. Is it 3D? Because that scares me more. The Spiderman ride at Universal I had to basically have my eyes closed the entire time. I hated that ride. But there is also that thing about certain rides that say don't close your eyes or look away because you will become dizzy (like Mission Space). Is this ride similar to it?

Based on what you've said in regard to fears, I would most likely steer clear of FoP. It is a 3D attraction and after you're linked to your banshee, the "link chairs" tilt and pivot while you swoop down off of cliffs, make tight turns, etc. It's a truly incredible experience but if the Eiffel Tower scene in Soarin' is too much for you, Flight of Passage is probably best skipped!

I agree. It doesn't sound like the OP would enjoy FoP at all.

I ride soarin but it is almost too much for me and I am guilty of closing my eyes on occasion. I had zero problem on FOP! Ok, I might have closed my eyes for half a second once or twice but no more than that. I just felt so secure in the ride vehicle. Gave me a sense of security that the lap belt on soarin doesn't. So I wouldn't rule out FOP automatically.

I had the pleasure of riding FOP for the first time yesterday. Yes, it is 3D. I have a mild fear of heights and there are a couple of sequences where the banshee you are riding jumps off a cliff to start flying. When this happens the ride takes excellent advantage of both the tilted forward downward mechanical motion and the speed and perspective of the 3D visual to make you think you are falling straight down for quite a distance. If Soarin' gets to you then FOP will probably be a bit too strong.
