Will I be really sorry if we don't do HDDR?

As I look at my plans for our next trip, the only place I could fit HDDR in would be on the night that we have plans for 'Ohana. I *really* don't want to do HDDR instead of 'Ohana, but I hate for the kids to miss HDDR.

What do you think?

We've done 'Ohana last time, though I don't remember ANY of it since I was int he bathroom with DS 4 or 5 times throughout the dinner. Grrrrr.

Is HDDR worth it enough to do in place of 'Ohana?

How old is DS now?

That might change my answer, but I would say do HDD over O'hana.

HDD is great, and a lot of fun.

The food is different at both, one Polynesian one BBQ. We love HDDR. It has a good show, good food and plenty of it. I think it's worth a try. You may find a new "must do".

They will LOVE HDD.

It's slapstick comedy with singing and dancing.

I wish I could have the strawberry shortcake for dessert tonight!

From what I have seen (I don't have kids myself) boys that age love the slapstick humor. The teen may roll her eyes a lot if she isn't into that sort of thing. But I think the show's a hoot myself

No way I'd pick HDDR over Ohana........ but go with whatever your family would enjoy the most! We love Ohana, but HDDR is not something we will repeat.

Haven't been to Ohana so not too sure, but even though I wouldn't go back to Hoop De Doo - i definitely think it's something you should do atleast once, especially if you've gone to Ohana before.

In my opinion HDDR is a must do at least once. Definately better than Ohana.

take a look at the videos on youtube. Im glad looked at them beforehand because it just wasnt my thing. It reminded me of shows i saw when i was a kid on vacation with my parents. Also didnt seem up to Disney standards in my opinion.

I agree that HDDR is something to do atleast once. We took DS (8) and DD (5) along with another family who have kids the same age, and they all loved it. My son couldn't stop laughing at the corney jokes. I was filiming the show and one of the female performers started picking on my buddy and at one point came down off the stage, sat in his lap and kissed him. The kids almost fell out of their chairs.

This is a great idea - take a look at the youtube videos first. I've been to both Ohana and HDDR, and would choose Ohana. Our boys are ages pre-school to pre-teen and our oldest enjoyed HDDR when he was two years old. But since then, our boys have not been into the slapstick humor, so it's not something they like. If you and your kids see part of the youtube videos, you should be able to get a sense for whether it's something you would enjoy. If they just had the meal without the show, I would love it there - good food!

Ohana is one of our favorites. While we read lots of negative reviews of Ohana before going, we found the food to be delicious, the service to be top-notch, the ambiance warm and inviting, and the entertainment fine for us.

We actually did watch some of the YouTube videos of HDDR before going and we did not enjoy it at all. The menu was not appealing, either, so decided not to risk it. Maybe when the kids are older, but still likely not.

We prefer the food at Ohana over HDDR. I'm glad we went to HDDR, but we won't return - just not our thing. I probably agree that everyone should do it once because lots of people love it and return every trip.
