Although one of the favourites for my youngest (9) will I be disappointed with the dinner selections at Chef Mickeys. We're not on the dining plan for this trip and my oldest is 11 (so basically an adult in Disney) I thought I'd try Chef Mickeys for dinner, but the last time we were there the food was not that good, it's alot of money to be disappointed. We were wondering if last time we hit a "bad" day?

You probably hit it on an average day, to be honest. In our experience, Chef Mickey's has never really been about the food as it is more about the character experience. We really have a great time there although the food isn't spectacular, it isn't nasty. :)

We won't be going back for a couple of years, but I wouldn't be mad if we did.

I agree, the food isn't great but it isn't horrible either. IMHO Chef Mickey's is more about the characters and interaction, the food is just a small part of the experience. If you are going for great food, go to a restaurant that doesn't concentrate on the characters but on the food. If you want character interaction then Chef Mickeys is the place to go.

The last time my family and I went to Chef Mickey's for dinner we thought it was ok, however the one thing we found was the hot food got cold very fast once you got back to you're table. However we would not say the meal was bad or anything, it was just something we noticed.

It's been a while since we've been to Chef Mickey's (and we never plan to go back), but we were quite disappointed in both the food and the character interaction.

We had dinner (and breakfast) there in July and were very happy with it. Its definitely not gourmet, but theres a good variety. I especially enjoyed the prime rib, potatoes, ravioli and the salad bar. The special of the day was a big hit with us too. :goodvibes

I my opinion, I have been there every trip, either for breakfast or dinner. The food has never been all that great, but decent. SO, that being said, breakfast has always been better tasting, to us. I would prefer to start skipping it some trips....BUT I would not deprive my children (7,5, and 2) of this experience with Mickey. We do not hunt down characters in the parks, and stop only if we pass by chance. So, it is worth the money for us to do this in order to "meet Mickey".

Have a great trip!

Jennifer

I wouldn't go for the food. It's decent, but it's just typical buffet style food.

For us it has great character interaction. That's why we've gone in the past and we'll go again.

We won't be going back....didn't feel like any part of it was worth the price.

We went for dinner once and I will never go back, the food was terrible and the kids didnt like it either....

The character interaction was great tho

We went in February and really enjoyed it. The food isn't phenomenal, but it was good and there was enough variety for us all to find something we liked. I like Chef Mickey's far better than Crystal Palace; less crowded and a nice buffet.
