Will Grand Californian be removed from Disney Collection?

Even though they are making just a few villas at GC, have they announced whether GC will stay part of the Disney Collection? I was planning a DL trip for '09 (possibly, depending on coin), and would prefer the GC over the other two resorts.

i don't think it's been officially announced. most posts i've seen suspect that the GC hotel will no longer be an option in the disney collection, and i agree.

I emailed MS a while back asking this about the GC and the other DL resorts. I told them that with only 50 units, it would be nice to have the option of using our points at the GC and other DL resorts.

The reply that I got back said that they have not made a decision on it.

Yeah, I figured it would get pulled. But 50 units on the entire west coast isn't much. I hope we're wrong.

Maybe I'm missing something, but why wouldn't the DLR hotels not be included in the Disney Collection once the GCV are built? Wouldn't we be charged the $95 fee to book the GC, DLH or PP on points just as we are charged $95 fee if we booked the Poly, GF, Y&B or WL?

IIRC, you lost the ability to book the WL (and BC and BW and AKL) hotels once they added on a DVC wing.

I agree, losing Grand California as Concierge would be a bummer given the villas will probably fill up quickly. I haven't stayed at the other DLR's in a while, but I heard they are not as nice/convenient...

The likely outcome but given the small size, it's possible they'll leave all 3 on the DC list for DL, we shall see. BWI was never on the DC list.
