Our AP's expire tomorrow. We don't plan to renew. We took four week long trips on these passes... they served us well.

Of course mid-way through the passes the Fairytale Package was announced and we sweated out whether we could ever get an AP room discount.

Does anyone think the FTP will be offered in 2004? It was a deal. If I can find good airfare, I'd plan a surprise trip.

Its mentioned as a package for 2004 on the Disney site.

It's not the same FTP that was offered this summer. I have to pay for all of your nights.

sorry, can't resist...
"I have to pay for all of your nights."

that would be a great package if you would pay for all of my nights !!!:earseek:

I'm sure it will be the same thing when they announce the dates. I just don't see disney naming a package after a previous one.

The Fairytale Package is still available under the exact same name but the terms are very different than what was offered in 2003.

See http://tinyurl.com/t7ww for the package details.

Here's the link to Disney World's site with the Fairytale Package explained for 2004:

It is NOT the same offering as the 2003 version.

The only thing I can think of is that marketing thought it would be a boom to give a package the same thing so that people would book it, thinking they'd get the same great deal.

I really HOPE that's not the case, since that would mean Disney was taking us for fools!!! :earseek:

Gee Dan, didn't you like my link to the page? ;)

No matter. They both get people to the page with the Fairytale Package info. :)

I don't think Disney is doing any intentional misleading with this package. More likely, I believe, is the FTP package that was offered for '03 was a special, limited time promotion that involved the free nights. What you see for '04 is actually the way the package was drawn up to be offered under normal circumstances.

This package is no special which leads me to believe around june they will be offering the same as last year.

Personnally, I think that Disney is waiting to see what will work. There current offering (Dream Maker is up till next May) and I think that they are waiting to see how filled there hotels will be. IMHO come next March/April if there hotels aren't filled for the summer, then you will see something happen and it will be another marketing strategy as it seems like FTP certainly helped to fill their parks this year. If those hotels are filled, Disney sure isn't going to give anything away.

I think the only reason they are still marketing the FTP, when the other discount packages are running, is because they still have a ton of Donald lithographs left over, and they need to get rid of them! They already came up with the new package with the lanyards as "giveaways", so they just did substituted the pic, changed the name and viola.... Not the same package $-wise as before, but with the same name and perk. Hope what I'm saying makes sense. (Sometimes even I wonder...)

I don't know if you listened to/read about the Media Event, where Jay Rasulo and their CFO were taking questions, etc. but this question was asked. The CFO said that 4 for 7 (what they called FTP) most likely would not come back. They would be trying different marketing strategies.

Basically, it comes down to not wanting to de-value the Disney brand, which is what would happen if they did FTP all the time.

I say, be happy that FTP happened, those of you who were able to use it. But don't look for it to happen again. It might not be what we as the consumers want, because that was a heck of a deal, but for Disney to keep going, they can't offer that type of deal in the near future.

Just my opinion.

Here's the real question: Did Disney profit from selling the FTP? If so, they'll offer it (or something close) again. Judging from the interest on the boards, I suspect they did make $$$ from it, and I suspect we'll see it again.

Here's my take on FTP...hope this makes sense.

After the 2003 special, a number of people are obviously wondering if it will be offered again (7 for 4) in 2004. IF that were to happen, a pattern would be established. People will begin to EXPECT it to happen in 2005. As a result, people will delay making 2005 travel plans until a special is offered. If that special never materializes, attendance takes a huge downturn.

My uneducated opinion is that it's in WDW's best interest to keep alternating their discount programs' format and timing as Jay Rasulo apparently stated during the media event.

We also booked the FTP and would do it again in a heart beat. While I was on the phone with Disney about our trip,I asked if the FTP was a hit (already knew it was) and I was told that they had already bypassed the number they expected for the package by 120%.If they take away our DC card they need to give us more offeres like the FTP.Not all of us have the Disney Visa card .I know that this was the only package we have ever used, always have used AP's or codes, but this worked out for us so much better and we got to stay longer that if it came back I would book for us to take more than one trip with it.I know that they are want more bookings for the times when their resorts are not full, but, they should not forget about the die heart Disney World fans,if the price is right then we'll come back more than once,if its not then we do not get to come at all or if we do we do not stay as long. After all, like alot of other places, the longer you stay the more money you spend. We came back Oct 8th and we are ready to go again if the price is right, plus,we take alot of other families when we go,so they really get alot of business from me letting them know when the great deals come up and we would all love to be there now.
