Will Fastpass/MaxPass return on June 15?

Right now with capacity so low it is not needed. WDW has not brought it back yet and it has been opened almost a year. I don't see it coming back until everything is back to normal.

I don't think it will come back until they can be at least at 50% capacity.

Wait times are NOT universally low right now. Just take a look at the app on a random weekday.

We were there Sunday and wait times were long. Maxpass would have been immensely welcome.

Curious if the wait times are accurate? I was in WDW end of April and we found them to be way off! Big rides would say 60 minutes and we would only wait about 20. This happened at every park, every day we were there.

They were not very accurate for us. Most waits were easily 1.5-2x the posted wait time. This was particularly true for waits listed at under 20 minutes. Almost always wrong.

Some examples from Mother's Day:

IASW: posted 15, actually 40
Big Thunder: posted 10, actually 20
Autopia: posted 5, actually 18
Soarin: posted 50, announcement made it would actually be 100
Silly Symhony Swings: posted 10, actual 30
Peter Pan: Posted 15, CM at end of line said closer to 30

We found this, too. At Disneyland, the wait time stated 40 minutes for RSR and we were on within 25 minutes. Soarin' stated 40 minutes, we were also on in 25 minutes. Star Tours stated 30 mins, we were on in 10. Big Thunder had a consistent 10 minute wait but we walked on or had a 5 minute wait for most of our rides on it.

The only accurate one was Snow White. That one took the posted 30 minutes to get on.

Thats odd as WDW sees the exact opposite phenomenon.

I feel like they might overstate early in the morning hours but then as the day goes on, they are understated and they don't update them as frequently.

I was expecting this based on reports here and elsewhere. It was a disappointment that it wasn't the case for us. We didn't get on many rides in our 8 hour day. 😪

I also found wait time to be under estimated last weekend.

Haunted Mansion: posted 20, actually 30.
Big Thunder: posted 15, actually 20.
Snow White: posted 25, actually 45!

Not a huge sample, but I’d be suspicious of any “20 minute” wait if the line looks long (even factoring in distancing).

What it sounds like to me is the accuracy of the wait times can vary greatly. I would guess the day of the week and time of day plays a part in it. But sometimes the wait times are shorter than posted and other times they are longer than posted.

Pretty much. There is too much inconsistency to rely on them or to make broad statements like "wait times are always under/over reported."

Are any of the unoffical/crowd reported wait time apps any better at prediction that those of you who have gone have noticed? Several years back, many times I'd find the the posted ride times in the park weren't very useful, but one could check MouseWait and see user-reported wait times that I found to be much more accurate.

I haven't used those in such a long time ever since the advent of Maxpass. I found wait times in the app to be very accurate pre pandemic. I never once saw anyone handing out the "red cards" at Disneyland this past weekend, so it seems to me that they are literally just guesstimating wait times in the app at this point. I don't know that there are enough users of those unoffical apps in the parks to be reliable right now.

At WDW now. While some wait times were off, some were not. It’s hard for the CM’s to gage but then again social distancing is out the window here so the times are off anyway. This week at WDW has been a total cluster…….

So does DL in my experience. I think they do this purposely. Better to over-perform than under if you kwim? If they say 60 minutes and it only takes 45 then people aren't disappointed/pissed off. I think they try to post "worst case scenario" type times. I have only gone pre-pandemic though. I won't be returning to the US any time soon to experience what it is currently like.

I think Fastpass/Maxpass is a long way off because it make the logistics of distancing in the lines a lot more complicated. Even stuff like where to funnel those lines where they’re be side-by-side with the regular lines would be a bit of an issue for many rides. (More plexiglass?). You’ve also got to staff return lines, etc... I just think it’s a hassle that they don’t “need” to deal with, so they won’t.

As for wait times accuracy, previously they had a very good idea of “Peter Pan’s line is to X spot, that’s about X many people and the line will take X amount of time.” Now there are way more variables, so I think that accuracy is probably much tougher.

One nice thing is that I think lines are so much more palatable when you’re constantly moving, which was definitely true with the distancing and lack of FP “stops.”

Aren't they using the FP lines to help with socially distancing the queues? I don't think they'll be bringing any FP form back until the extended queues are no longer needed, at least if they follow WDW's footsteps.

I've noticed at many southern California theme parks the wait times aren't accurate. And I think it has to do with the number of people in a party. The line will go faster if you can fill a vehicle, but if you've only got 1 or 2 people in a party, it's going to be much slower since you can't seat parties together. The variability makes predicting waits hard.
